Cancelled due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Our church has regretfully made the decision to cancel our Pennies for Pigs 5k and One Mile youth fun run that was scheduled for Saturday, March 28th. The safety of our church members and race participants are of the utmost importance to us and at this time we feel this is the best decision that we can make. We appreciate all of the support from those who donated money for sponsorships, those who signed up for the race, and those who shared online posts to help spread the word and show your support. We would like to give all participants a choice to either defer their registration to the run for next year, donate the money from your registration to help our Youth projects, or to receive a refund. If you were registered as a participant you can either respond to this email or to the post on Facebook that some members might have been tagged in to let us know what you would like to happen with your money. 8:15 am -- One Mile FUN RUN -- Ages 9 and under ($5.00) / 9:00 am -- 5K ($20 +)
Race Information: 5K course runs from Macedonia United Methodist Church to the Randolph/Montgomery County Line and back. Entry fee is $20 for registrations through 2/28; $25 for registrations 3/1 – 3/27. Must be registered by 3/20 in order to be guaranteed a t-shirt on race day. Walkers and strollers welcome; be courteous of runners. No pets, please. Rain or shine - no make-up date.
**There will also be a One-Mile FUN RUN for youth ages 9 and under. One-mile FUN RUN will be on Hurley Farm Road (across from/near Macedonia UMC). Entry fee for youth participating in One-mile FUN RUN is $5 and parent/guardian is welcome to walk/run with the child at no cost. Rain or shine – no make-up date.
Those who are registered by 3/20 will receive a goodie-bag containing a t-shirt and other items. Youth ages 9 and under, participating the One-mile FUN RUN will also receive a t-shirt. These t-shirts/bags may be picked up on race day, between 7:30 am - 8:45 am.
OVERALL AWARDS: Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place female and male runners OVERALL.
AGE GROUP AWARDS: Medallions will also be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place female and male runners in EACH AGE GROUP. Age categories: 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+. Ages 9 & Under who participate in the One-mile Fun Run will receive participation medals.
The Awards Ceremony will be held after the race at approximately 10:30.
Proceeds: All proceeds of this 5K fundraiser will support “Pennies for Pigs”, a mission project started nine years ago by the youth of Macedonia United Methodist Church in the Abner Community. Proceeds will benefits local non-profit and mission projects. This 5K was started in 2013 as a school project for one of the youth members of Macedonia UMC. The youth are continuing this 5K in order to fund their missions outreach.
