HOW YOUR REGISTRATION HELPS

The Flunk Cancer Foundation was created by the family and friends of Shannon McHone, a 2007 graduate of UNCW. Two years after earning her degree in Elementary Education, she was diagnosed with brain cancer, and after a valiant, nine-year battle, she passed away in April 2019. Flunk Cancer’s purpose is to address, educate, and provide aid and relief to teachers and school administrators, their families, and caregivers suffering from newly diagnosed cancer and/or ongoing treatment. The Flunk Cancer mission is “Just Living”, which reflects the desire to allow teachers and their families affected by cancer to “Just Live” their lives. This is accomplished by providing assistance and support to teachers with cancer and their families, helping guide them through the difficult avenues of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and care.
