Rutgers Camden BLDP Hoagies for Heroes Virtual 5K

Sun April 18 - Sun April 25 Camden, NJ 08318 US Directions

Place

227 Penn Street
Camden, NJ US 08318

Description

Come join the Rutgers Camden Business Leader Development Program (virtually) in raising money to support a small, minority-owned, business in Camden as well as Cooper Hospital. Get out and run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) to go for a new personal best, relieve some stress, or simply clear your head before finals! Between April 18th and April 25th, upload your time and a photo of you participating in the race. There will be categories into which photos can be placed and the best photo within each category will receive a raffle basket.

EVENT BENEFICIARY

With this virtual 5k, we will be supporting two Camden entities for the price of one! First, your race registration fee will go to Market Street Pizza where they will make hoagies which will then be donated to the nurses and other front-line workers at Cooper Hospital. With your registration, you will be helping both a local small business and a large, internationally-known hospital.

Photo Selection

The winners will be selected based on their photo that falls within the following categories. The photos from each category will be placed in a raffle to win from a selection of prizes including a Trader Joe's snack bag, a Rutgers swag bundle, a Wegmans Tote Bag filled with snacks, a $100 check courtesy of Multivalue Services, and two one-year memberships (one premium, one basic) to Giant Fitness.

1. Best View- people see your picture and think "That is beautiful, I want to run there"

2. Most Challenging*- Maybe you are running up a steep hill, or sloshing through a creek, whatever it is, just make sure that it is reasonably safe and not a serious risk

3. Silliest- This one is pretty self-explanatory, let your goofy side show, just remember to keep it appropriate

4. Most Creative- You have a fair bit of leeway with this one, maybe you want to run and juggle, maybe you want to run in a costume, just do something that you think will catch everyone's attention in a healthy, "Huh, I never would have thought to run it that way", way

At this point, only 1 winner will be selected from each category, but that could be expanded, depending on the volume of participants.

HOW TO RUN THIS RACE

In the third week of April, go out and run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). You may have a route around your neighborhood that you like to run. You could opt to run 12 and a half laps around your local high school track. Several other options for 5k (or near 5k) distance courses in the area are the Penny Packer park cross country course on the border of Haddonfield and Cherry Hill, a run across the Ben Franklin bridge walkway, or the attached route in the waterfront section of Camden that is about 5k distance as well. You could even run it on a treadmill if you want. Just cover the distance of 3.1 miles and you are good!
