Sustainability
We are committed to keeping our beaches, community and planet clean. As a Surfrider beneficiary, our goal is to reduce waste and build a sustainable lasting impact on our community. We don't want to just "talk the talk" - we are taking the initiative to "run the talk" and encourage our community and partners to follow.
We're going cupless in 2022!
In today's world, we require you to BYO and carry your own aid whether it be your own hydration bottle, reusable cup or hydration vest. Remember, these are FILL STATIONS, not Aid Stations. Cups will NOT be available. Please use this to "refill" your hydration bottles or reusable cups. Reusable HydraPak Speed Cups and Nathan handheld water bottles, waist packs and vests are available for purchase at our store on 305 Beach Ave, Cape May.
Kegs of water provided by Cape May Brewing will be at the start, on course and finish. By ditching disposable cups on the race day, we will save an estimated 4,000 from landfills. This is ultimately the direction that all races are going and we are stoked to be leading the trend! Starting in 2022, runners will have the option to purchase SpeedCups for any of Cape May Running Company's races or provide their container. We hope that runners will save their dishwasher safe SpeedCup to use in the future. For more tips on cupless racing visit this article.
Race Shirts & Medals
We only order what we need. Shirts will be ordered to reflect sizes selected at registration and medals for the final number of registered participants. That being said, there will always be leftovers. Extra race shirts will be available for sale at the after party and in our store. Ultimately shirts may be donated locally, but never put in the trash. Runners get a lot of race shirts... Our goal is to create a unique, comfy shirt that runners are likely to keep and wear. Our finisher medals, overall and age group awards are items that can be "used" - bottle openers, coasters, growlers. Runners will receive their celebratory beer in a commemorative pint glass and are encouraged to use it for any beer at the after party.
