Our goal for several years has been to create a Women's Only Race on a balmy summer's night. The date we landed on just so happened to line up with the birth of Amelia Earhart, a woman who pushed boundaries and defied gender roles from a very young age.
The first plane Amelia Earhart owned, “The Canary”, helped her take off in championing the advancement of women in aviation. So, what better name for this race than the Canary 5K? The name speaks strength, determination, passion, and vision! These are the qualities that we recognize and celebrate.
From the time that Earhart passed her flying test in 1921, she was breaking records. Her tenacity and ingenuity inspires women today to push past the sound barrier.
Now for you history buffs, we know that the picture on the home page doesn’t show Amelia with her “Canary” plane, but it does show where her vision and passion took her.
So Soar to New Heights with us in the Canary 5K and enjoy the silent dance party after!
