2021 Spring Lake 5 Update as of January 17, 2021
This notice is to advise all participants on the status of the 2021 Spring Lake 5 race. Usually at this time, you would be receiving an email from the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run that registration is opening on the first Sunday in February/Super Bowl Sunday. This year all 2020 registered runners who did not opt out of the 2020 race are already officially registered for the 2021 race. Any additional registration/entries will be capped at a limited amount based upon any remaining openings for the race. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, registration will not be opening the first Sunday in February 7th/Super Bowl Sunday. We will be following events over the next couple of weeks to make a final determination as to whether we will have a race this year. All details regarding registration, event planning, and any other information will be forthcoming at that time. We thank you for your patience in this matter and hope that you and your families remain safe and healthy during this difficult time.

Welcome to the 45th Running of the Spring Lake Five Mile Run, Inc. In 1977, five hundred runners lined up for the first Spring Lake Five. Thanks to your help, the race has grown into one of the country's biggest and best running events.
The Spring Lake Five Mile Run is organized by the Spring Lake Five Race Committee and Race Director Ed Hale, under the guidance of the Friends of the Spring Lake Five Inc., a not-for-profit organization. After payment of Race expenses, all proceeds from the Race are donated to charitable organizations or allocated for town projects. Since 2002, the race has raised over $2,690,000 for numerous volunteer groups that support the event, Spring Lake Recreation and other charitable organizations. Funds were also used in conjunction with the Borough of Spring Lake for work on extending the Spring Lake Boardwalk to enhance the safety of runners and walkers at its north end terminus.
