Description
In Albuquerque, NM on October 14, 2023, from 9:13am until 12:09pm the moon will cross in front of the sun creating a ring of fire. Albuquerque is one of the best places in the US to witness this spectacular annular solar eclipse! To celebrate we are hosting a 5k fun run and eclipse viewing after party in our parking lot.
Our Beat the Eclipse 5k will begin and end at the Canteen Brewhouse on Aztec. This out and back run will primarily take place on the North Diversion Channel. We will have an aid station at the halfway point. Restrooms will be available at the start and finish.
Race Objective: Beat the Eclipse! Pick your start time based on your predicted min/mile pace and arrive back at the brewery by 10:34am (beginning of the maximum eclipse) to toast the ring of fire at 10:37am! We will utilize a wave start. There are (4) waves, 10am, 10:10am, 10:15am, 10:20am. When you register make sure you are in the CORRECT wave, or you will miss toasting the ring of fire! There will not be prizes awarded, but instead a raffle (one free entry per finisher) open to all finishers following the conclusion of the maximum eclipse. Your bib number is your raffle number, so stick around to see if you won a fun prize! This can be a fun run, race against the moon, personal challenge, or a group competition.
Each 5k participant will receive a long sleeve t-shirt (guaranteed a shirt if registered by September 22nd) a beer or root beer at the finish line, and eclipse viewing glasses. We will have a beer garden set up with additional food and beer for sale. Must be 21 to receive your complimentary beer. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Burning Daylight Coffee Company will have coffee and pastries available for purchase before and after the run!
*Day of registration will be available. You will not be guaranteed a shirt with day of registration.
*Packet Pickup will be at Canteen Brewhouse on Friday October 13th from 2-6PM.
