Description

Road Apple Rally

Saturday October 5, 2024

Lions Wilderness Park and Sandstone Amphitheater

Farmington, New Mexico

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Held annually since 1981, the Road Apple Rally is America’s longest continuously running mountain bike race! The Rally got its name from early riders dodging “road apples” left behind by horses who also used the trail. The race features 30, 15, and 4.5-mile courses in the Glade Run Recreation Area and is a fun and fast race for mountain bikers of all levels.

In an effort to continuously improve the event, we have some changes and additions to announce this year:

New Sprint Course!  New for 2024 is the 4.4-mile Sprint Course, providing an ideal distance for youth and beginner riders.

Updated registration categories and age brackets:

In order to promote more competitive fields and bring the event in-line with other regional races, we have removed some age brackets and streamlined the registration categories.  We will also stop using the Cat 1-3 designations, as the Road Apple Rally isn’t affiliated with USA Cycling.

Bigger Pro Prize Purses!  We love our pro riders, so we’re increasing the cash amounts of our prize purses.  First place for men and women pro is now $750.  Please note: we are no longer offering cash payouts for Expert-level riders.  The top 3 overall will each receive a comped entry to the 2025 Road Apple Rally.
