Description
With Springtime in-person race events being canceled or postponed, we've decided to have some fun and continue to keep you motivated at the same time by offering a Virtual Challenge that will allow you to run/walk ALL RACE DISTANCES in the month of MAY. There may be no in-person race events of any distance in the Month of May but now you can virtually do them ALL!
To complete the MAY"hem" Virtual Base Challenge you will CUMMULATE miles. As you add up your weekly mileage you will reach race distance milestones!
BASE CHALLENGE
5K + 10K + 15K + Half Marathon + Full Marathon + an Ultra 50K. In terms of cummulative miles, that is 88.9 miles in the month of May. This is the Base Challenge that must be met to earn the MAYhem self standing finisher medal!
ULTRA CHALLENGE
Once you've completed the Base Challenge you might want to keep going and tack on 50 more miles to stack on the 50 Miler medal insert! Accomplishing that will get you to a total of 138.9 total miles for the month of May.
JUST PLAIN CRAZY CHALLENGE
For the "crazies" out there (you know who you are) why stop there... tack on an additional 100K (62.1 miles) to bring the grand total mileage for the month to 200.9 miles. If you can cross the 200.9 mile threshold you will earn the prestigious 100K medal insert to top of your finisher medal! Do you have the Virtu"WILL" to make it happen!!
All participants (Base, Ultra, Just Plain Crazy!) will receive a custom buff (aka face mask, headband, neck scarf-all in one), as well as a custom shirt designed specifically for the Challenge completed (88.9, 138.9 or 200.9)...how cool is that!
We will hold post event packet pickup in Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Binghamton, Auburn, Corning, Goshen, Utica, Watertown, Old Forge and Lake Placid NY areas in early to mid June. If you live outside of these designated areas or prefer to have your items shipped, please select the SHIPPING option during registration process.
All donations and a portion of the event proceeds will go into a fund for healthcare workers and other first responders on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic. The fund will enable them the opportunity to participate in future Willow Running events (2020-2021) at no cost to them. The number of recipients will be determined by the amount of donations and race proceeds. If you would like to nominate someone you know (or yourself) that is working in the healthcare field or as a first responder, please email us at willowrunningNY@gmailcom.
