Join Kaleida Health & The Buffalo Marathon to Fight Heart Disease

New Date: May 29 and 30, 2021

Due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 20th Anniversary Buffalo Marathon Weekend, presented by the Buffalo-Erie Marathon Association Inc., is being postponed.

We share in your disappointment and are providing the following options to give you the flexibility to run and celebrate with us when the world is healed. These options also allow us to manage the finances and start planning for 2021.

· First, you will remain in your registered events, and all dates will be changed to May 29th and 30th 2021, and no action is required on your part.

· If you already deferred your registration to 2021, you’re all set, no further action is required on your part.

· We understand that you might not be able to make the 2021 event, so we invite you to defer to 2022 or 2023 at no charge when registration opens.

· You are also free to sell or transfer your entry to another participant at no charge when registration opens.

Note: Deferrals and transfers are performed in RunSignup after registration opens for 2021.

You have made an investment in your health over the past few months.  Remain positive and keep on running. In the weeks to follow we will be encouraging posting on our FB page of your ongoing commitment to health and wellness.  Through social sharing, we will remain connected even in the face of social distancing.

About The Event

The Kaleida Health Heart to Heart Relay presented by the Buffalo Marathon is 2-4 person team relay where you and your relay team members each run a leg of the Buffalo Marathon course, and collectively pledge to fundraise a total of $1,000 for cardiac health research.

Heart Disease Affects So Many

  • Heart disease accounts for 1 in 7 deaths in the United States.
  • About 92.1 million American adults are living with some form of cardiovascular disease.
  • Western New York has even higher rates of heart disease

Let’s join together as a community to fight heart disease in Western New York and raise money to benefit the best-in-class cardiac programs at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute.

Why run?

  • Get fit and give back to help improve research for cardiac health at same time

  • Run the same Buffalo Marathon course and experience the energy and camaraderie in the city on Marathon weekend

  • Get a t-shirt, custom medal and if your team reaches certain fundraising levels then you'll get some sweet prizes

  • Team registration fee is only $100 per team (Just $20 per team member of a team of 4)

Team Requirements

  • Each team must have at least two members and can have a maximum of four members
  • Each team member must signup individually under their team name.
  • Each team pledges to collectively fundraise $1,000 for cardiac health by May 24th, 2020.
Registration Instructions

There are two requirements in order to participate on raceday.

  1. Your team must collectively raise a minimum of $1,000 for the Kaleida Health Foundation by May 23rd, 2020, in order to pick up your bibs and be eligible to participate in the Heart to Heart relay on May 24th, 2020.
  2. You must have at least two people on your team (maximum of four) and each team member needs to register online for the exact team name that the captain setup.  We do not require each team member to individually fundraise. We only require the collective team to meet the $1,000 donation mark. If only 2 of 4 team members fundraise, that's okay, as long as the $1,000 team fundraising goal is met by May 23rd, 2020.

We will automatically create team and individual fundraising pages for you upon the completion of your registration. All donations must come through these provided pages in order for them to count towards your $1,000 team goal.

Registration Instructions

  1. Each team must have a team captain that signs up, creates the team name, and pays the $100 team fee.
  2. Once the team captain signs up and creates the team, the team captain should send each team member an email or link for them to register. The team captain MUST give the team members the exact team name (and password if one was set) so the team member can select the correct team. If the team member doesn't select the exact team name and opts to create a new team, then that team member will be forced to pay the $100 team fee again. You don't want that!
  3. Team Captains can customize their own individual fundraising page as well as their team fundraising page by logging into their account here.

  1. Once the team captain has created the team and sent the team name (and password if applicable) to the team member then the team member should begin to register here.
  2. When registering, make sure to 'Join a Team' and to select the team name.
  3. Fill out the form questions and then complete the setup of your individual fundraising page. Finish your registration and you're set!

*Please note: Team members must select the pre-existing team that the team captain created or else they will need to pay an additional $100 team fee. You don’t want that! Make sure your team captain sends you your team name (and password if applicable).
