Description
Race through fields and forests and across boardwalks as you speed toward the finish line in Audubon's Virtual Wild 5k. The money raised at this race benefits the habitats, trails, and bridges on the Audubon property. The race course will still take place on the Audubon trails, but the course will be open for a week in order to spread out participants and avoid a large crowd. Runners and walkers can complete the course anytime in daylight hours between July 18 and July 26 and report their times if they choose. (Posting times is optional.) Winning times for each category will be announced on July 27.
Race on your own, or with your running group while taking the appropriate distancing guidelines as advised by New York State and the CDC. Participants can run the course as many times as you want, but may only submit one time. Please be aware that there may be Day Camp groups on the trails from 9:00 a.m. ― 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
This virtual race will also have virtual prizes, and we promise to make them fun!
Because this year's race is virtual, we are making the t-shirt an optional add on in the registration. If you want to buy a shirt from the race, it will be $10.00 additional as an add on and you can pick it up at the nature center during business hours. If you would like it mailed to you, we can mail it for an additional $8.00.
Audubon’s trails have been used more by the public this year than usual, and we have worked hard to keep them dry and safe for walking and trail running. The Wild 5k is put together by a committee of volunteers and staff. If you would like to help out please contact the Nature Center at (716) 569-2345.
