Race for the Rescues in the Hamlet

  -Last day to ensure you receive your t-shirt with registration is April 19th. All registrations after that date will receive a t-shirt while supplies last.
  
  -All spectators are welcome to attend a live demonstration of the K-9 Unit following the race at approximately 11:15 and again at 1:30!
  -Time change to the Cutest and Adorably Ugliest Dog Contest-- now to take place at 11:30am following the live demonstration.
  -For runners 21 years of age and older- a beer voucher for the beer tent (sponsored by Cortland Beer Company) will be included with your registration!
  
  McLean's Happenin' In the Hamlet is hosting the 4th Annual Race for the Rescues in the Hamlet! The road course run will include a 10k route option this year in addition to the 5k route.

• The Race for the Rescues helps to bring awareness to the importance of rescuing and adopting shelter dogs in our local community. Shelter pets not only make great family member but also make outstanding therapy and service dogs! It is with this notion that we are very pleased to announce this year's proceeds will be benefiting the Cornell University Policy K-9 Unit. The teams are in need of training aids, including explosives materials!

• The K-9 program dogs have either come from rescues or from the local community. They undergo vigorous training and must receive yearly certifications.  For more information visit the Cornell University Police K-9 Unit website: http://www.cupolice.cornell.edu/dept_directory/k9_unit.cfm
   

• The Dryden Dog Shelter will be present with available dogs for adoption and we will have a donation bin accepting pet supplies, food, toys, etc. We welcome all visitors and runners to also bring their dogs but require them to be leashed and have current Rabies vaccinations.

• Awards ceremony to take place after completion of both races at approximately 11am. Top prizes for top 3 male and female finishers in each race. All dog participants receive a gift as well!
