September is Gynecologic Cancers Awareness Month and according to the CDC, all women are at risk for developing Gynecologic Cancers and the probability only increases with age. Help us in raising awareness of the symptoms, risk factors, prevention and early detection for cervical, ovarian, endometrial/uterine, vaginal or vulvar cancer, because as The Foundation for Women's Cancers states, every five minutes, a woman will be diagnosed with one of these cancers. Show your support as we honor and celebrate the women and families in our community impacted by Gynecologic Cancers.

FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is "Packet Pick Up"? It is one of the magical days before the race when you pick up your:
      • race bib (that snazzy numbered fashion piece you affix to your shirt that tells you apart from the other runners—it has a chip that the timers can read with their mystical powers).
      • state of the art safety pins which attach said bib to your shirt
      • super cool shirt that will make you the envy of your friends. Shirts are only guaranteed if you sign up by 8/03/2024, so sign up early
  • Can someone else pick up my packet? You betcha. In fact, if you have a team, you can assign a team super-hero to pick up everyone’s packet.
  • What if I can’t pick up during packet pick up? You can still pick up on race day, but make sure to arrive early. Registration opens at 8:00a.m., which, let's face it, is still too early for a Saturday.
  • Do I have to run the entire race? Not at all! Run, walk, skip or amble your way around the course! Serious runners will want a spot at the front of the start line, so please allow them to line up in the front.
  • Can I bring my kids in a stroller or wagon? Absolutely, but again, please be aware of runners and allow them to pass safely.
  • Can I bring my dog, cat and or llama with me? We love animals! However, they aren’t allowed at our event, you’ll just have to show them your pictures. Except, of course, registered service animals are always welcome.
  • Where do I park? There is plenty of free parking in lot G.
  • How do I get my time? Timing chip is attached to the race bib and results are posted at the end of the race and are available online after the event.
  • Are there restrooms? We’ve got you covered - there are multiple W.C.’s inside MCC.
  • Can I set up a tent? Yes— tailgating is welcome, but please clean up before you leave.
  • Can I sign up race day? Of course. Race registration increases to $35 on race day and there is no guarantee for t-shirts.
  • I don’t want to run. Can I volunteer to help? We'd love to have you come and help as a volunteer! CLICK HERE to be taken to the volunteer page, where you can select the spot that's perfect for you.

Team & Fundraisers: THE SCOOP

Get Your Team Name on the Race T-Shirt!  We're not ovary-acting this year! Walk solo, raise dough with a crew, or do both! Teamwork makes the dream work (and the t-shirt bragging rights).

Here are 2 ways to make it happen:

  • Fundraise like Champions: Raise $750 (or more) for local gynecologic cancer research led by Dr. Richard Moore at URMC. Your team name will be proudly displayed on the official race t-shirt! START A FUNDRAISER HERE
  • Assemble Your Squad: Get 30 (or more) friends to register for the 5K as part of your team. Teamwork makes the dream work (and gets your team name on the t-shirt)! START A TEAM HERE

Fundraising AND assembling a squad? Why not both! It's like the teamwork buffet - all the options, none of the pressure (except maybe from your competitive uncle). Every step counts in the fight against gynecologic cancers. Remember, funds raised go to groundbreaking research conducted locally at the URMC. Let's make a difference together!
