Sat April 10 - Sun May 16

Place

Anywhere you prefer!

Description

Have you been training to run a 5k, ½ marathon, or full marathon?

We know it’s been hard to find the opportunities to test your hard work over the last year, and we are already starting to see cancelations for some races in 2021. Troubled Raccoon Racing is going to give you a heartwarming reason to run your race.

From April 10 through May 16,  2021 you can run a 5k, ½ marathon, or full marathon when and where it’s convenient for you. You’ll be running for more than the millage - each entrant in The Race4Some1 will help the Medals4Mettle charity. Medals4Mettle pairs runners who complete ½ or full marathons with children who are fighting cancer and other chronic medical conditions. Each runner who finishes the total distance donates their finisher’s medal to support one of these children. You can honor your body and simultaneously honor a tiny human whose body is suffering in a way that no tiny human's body should ever have to.

How will this event work?

We will kick off the race with a Zoom start line on the morning of April 10th, 2021. Even if you aren't running your race that day, there's power behind seeing your shining faces come together on one screen!

You choose the time and date between April 10th and May 10th, 2021 to run your race. Once you finish, you submit your finish time through RunSignup.

If you run the ½ or full marathon, we will donate a portion of your entry free to Medals4Mettle, and we will also send your finisher’s medal along with your personal statement to Medals4Mettle to give to a child with a medical condition.

If you are not running the half or full marathon, but choose to run the virtual 5k, your fancy footwork will still be charitable giving!!! We will donate a portion of your entry fee to Medals4Mettle to support their work with children.

Does this mean you don’t get an award?

Although you won’t get to hold your finisher’s award, you still earn it. We are just facilitating transportation of the award to Medals4Mettle so you don’t have to.

Because your bling is going to someone who needs it most, all finishers will instead receive a high-quality participant shirt and an event-specific distance sticker (5k, 13.1m, or 26.2m) for your car.

REGISTER BY MARCH 25th to guarantee your shirt size!

We have placed the shirt order. At this point, we still have some extras and will do our best to provide shirts to people who register after today.

Result Reporting

Once you complete your race, you will be able to submit your results through RunSignup. If you complete the 5k, you will only need to submit your finish time.

If you complete the 1/2 or full marathon, you will need to submit proof of completion. You can do this either by including a screen capture of your tracking software (Garmin, Strava, etc.) along with your time or by submitting results using your tracking software.  Both options work through RunSignup.

There are several ways to upload your results to RunSignup. You may do so here on the race website by clicking "Results," or by going into your RSU profile and checking through your race registrations.

Training Tips

If this is your first race or your 100th marathon, training is the key to getting the finish you want. We are happy to be working with OMR Trail Run Coaching to offer free training tips each week. Every entrant will have the option to receive weekly training tips from professional coaches to keep them on track.
