Description
The Hercules Race Committee is sad to announce that the Seventh Annual Hercules on the Harbor 10k will not be run in-person this year. We know you're tough; we've seen it year after year on the course. But, in order to keep our runners healthy, we have decided to offer a VIRTUAL RUN CHALLENGE instead.
As this is an online event we have changed our registration cost this year to $25. Please register by October 30th to participate in the Hercules on the Harbor Virtual Run Challenge.
The Rules:
Here is how it works! Register for the challenge any time from now until October 30th. You will be assigned a bib number at the time of your registration which you will use to log your mileage. This challenge is on the honor system. It's about having fun, staying active and raising money for a great cause (breast cancer research). Log your run/walk every day for the month of October using your bib number through RunSignup. Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to sync Strava/Garmin/Nike with this platform.
We are looking forward to tracking your progress over the month of October and hope to race in-person in 2021.
The Prizes:
We will have weekly prize drawings for participants with giveaways from local vendors and we will recognizing our favorite photos on social media each week. Once the month is over we will be recognizing the individuals with the most miles logged, the most number of runs completed, and the fastest 10k. If you would like a shirt we have several of our "vintage" 10k Hercules shirts that we will make available for you to pick up at Smithtown Running Company or Sayville Running Company (limited colors and sizing available).
Engaging with the Community:
The best part of going virtual is seeing all of your (masked) smiling faces and engaging with our local running community on social media! Post photos pre or post run, show off your new running gear, let us know your favorite running spots, and don't forget to follow us and tag us on Instagram (@hercules10k) and Facebook (@herculesontheharbor).
If we are able, we are *hoping* to host a few small group runs throughout the challenge. We will be following all local guidelines to make sure everyone stays healthy. We will be sending out an email update on this closer to the Challenge!
As in previous years, all proceeds from this event will be donated to Stony Brook Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Research. If you register for this challenge but are unable to compete for whatever reason, we are sorry but we cannot offer a refund. Please consider your registration as a donation.
