Description

Join us for a once in a lifetime race, the Friendship 7 Miler! This event will take place July 17th in New Concord Ohio and is meant to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Glenn. The race is a point-to-point race. It will start in Cambridge, John Glenn's birthplace and finish in New Concord in front of his boyhood home, now the John and Annie Glenn Museum. After the race plan to stay and enjoy the afternoon with friends and family as we celebrate John Glenn's 100th Birthday during the three-day John Glenn Centennial Celebration. Directly following the race there will be a Hometown Parade, free tours of the John and Annie Glenn Museum, NASA Astronaut guest speakers, Food Trucks and so much more!
Proceeds raised at this event will support the John Glenn XC and T&F Boosters

RACE COURSE
The race is a point-to-point race. Starting at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge, John Glenn's birthplace. It will follow the Glenn Hwy (St. Rt. 40) west finishing in New Concord in front of his boyhood home, now the John and Annie Glenn Museum. The Course is relatively flat and fast and will use one lane of the Highway.
*Walkers are welcome - Dues to road closer limits, all participants will be required to maintain a 15 min. per mile pace.
 
WHEN/WHERE
7 Mile In person event - Saturday Morning July 17th 2021.
***Race day check-in and the start will be at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center - 7033 Glenn Hwy, Cambridge, OH US 43725
7 Mile Virtual - Run your event  ANY TIME, ANY WHERE and submit your results between July 11th and July 21th. Results can be submitted by Text or online HERE
 
 
PARKING AND BUS SHUTTLES
Parking for this event will be at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center near Check-in and the Start line and also at the John Glenn High School near the Finish line.
Before the race - Shuttles Buses will be provided from John Glenn High School (13115 John Glenn School Rd, New Concord, OH 43762) to the Check-in and the Start line at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center race morning starting at ? with the last shuttle leaving at ?
After the Race - Shuttles Buses will be provided from New Concord (Finish-line) throughout the day back to the the John Glenn High School and Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center.
Pickup and Drop off location in New Concord will be at ?
Spectators are encouraged to park at John Glenn High School and shuttle into New Concord to greet their participant at the finish line. Then stay for the parade and events immediately following the race!
 
RACE REGISTRATION & PACKET PICK-UP
Check-in and packet pick-up will be at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center 7033 Glenn Hwy, Cambridge Ohio, 43725 - starting at 6:00 a.m. 
Limited onsite registration will be available. registration will also remain open online race day, please use your phone or home computer if registering the morning of the race. 
 
AWARDS
Overall and Age group awards will be awarded in the live In-person event only.
Awards will be issued to the top three overall finishers and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each of the following age categories:
14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ Walkers are welcome!
Custom finisher’s medals will be awarded to every individual that completes the race, whether running or walking. 
 
 
ENTRY FEES: (non-refundable)
7 Mile Race $30.00 through May 15th  
May 16th through July 16th $35.00  
Day of Race $40.00

Covid Policy

***NOTE***
If we are unable (per health dept. regulations) to safely hold an in-person race due to COVID-19, we will 
automatically convert all registrations to a non-refundable virtual event as opposed to rescheduling. Updates will be posted on the race website. 
COVID-19 protective plan:
  • Masks will be required unless you are actively running in the race.
  • Socially distance - stay 6' from others and follow all start corral instructions. 
  • Masks required for staff and volunteers at all times.
  • Minimal person-to-person contact at check-in and throughout the event.
  • Separate start and finish areas
