What is My Way?
My Way is a Virtual walk across Spain (The way of St. James).
Per Wikipedia, the Camino de Santiago known in English as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrims' ways or pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. Many follow its routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth. It is also popular with hiking and cycling enthusiasts and organized tour groups.
Why do this?
Many reasons. Perhaps you were planning to walk “The Way” but now cannot go due to Covid-19.
Perhaps you want to train yourself for a future trip to Spain.
Perhaps you want or need a challenge to achieve this Fall.
Whatever the reason, this is a tool to help you stay motivated.
How far do I have to walk?
We have mapped the approximate route of one of the most common routes of the Camino. The Whole Way is from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Cape Finisterre, A Coruña, Spain. This distance is about 500 Miles (800 km). You can challenge yourself to walk the entire 500 miles in whatever increments you want.
Do I have to walk the entire way?
No. In fact, you can choose to go the Half Way which begins in Leon, Spain. There are two shorter distances as well: The last 100 Miles and a 60-Mile challenge. You decide for yourself. The idea is to set a challenging goal for yourself.
Record your activity
Keep track of your progress. At the end of each walk, log your distance into your personal tracker. See your progress on the map as you walk virtually across Spain.
We have set this up to be a fun and interesting tool so you can challenge yourself to get out there and move.
It is only $10 to participate. You have all summer to complete your particular challenge. But you must sign up by October 31 to allow yourself enough time to complete your goal.
There are no shirts or medals.,,,,only the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing something positive for yourself. You can print a finishers certificate of your performance upon completion.
