Run for Tourette 5K
Saturday, November 8, 2025 - 10 am
Kestral Point Shelter at Winton Woods Park
Description:
Hi, my name is Nathan Chamot, I’m 17 years old, and I’m the organizer of the first-ever Run for Tourette 5K on November 8th, 2025! I wanted to organize this 5K to raise money for the Tourette Association of America because I have Tourette Syndrome, and I don’t want others to face the same barriers I did growing up with the disorder. I started showing symptoms at the age of 9, and began to sniffle, twitch, and jerk without the ability to stop. As symptoms persisted, without any explanation, I began to feel unjustified in myself, which brought me to see doctor after doctor to figure out what was going on. Despite these symptoms persisting for years, it wasn’t until I was 13 years old that I got a diagnosis! The feeling of being unjustified in yourself is not something I want others to go through, but it is sadly a harsh reality for many, as an estimated 50% of people with Tourette Syndrome go undiagnosed. Additionally, Tourette Syndrome is not an uncommon disorder, as an estimated 1.4 million children live with Tourette Syndrome or another Tic Disorder. This is why I am raising money for the largest 501(c)(3) organization for Tourette Syndrome, the Tourette Association of America, an organization I’m also a Youth Ambassador for. I want to make a difference in the lives of those with Tourette Syndrome, and I hope you can help me too. You can help by registering as a participant, donating to our cause, or agreeing to sponsor our event! Hope to see you there!
