Description
Looking for a 5K in April or a mid-spring 5k? Want to see how your winter training is going? Then come out and celebrate the warm weather spring has to offer on this flat and fast course with the Mentor Nissan 5K.
This year, adding to the running event is a community support component. Runners and spectators are asked to bring canned goods to the race. A community food collection is being held to benefit End 68 Hours of Hunger. This local organization focuses weekly on putting nourishing food in the hands of Lake County school children to carry them through the weekend. Without their weekend food supply, many children would go hungry for 68 hours each week.
How can you help? All members of the community can donate any of the following items at the Mentor Nissan dealership during the week and day of the race. Runners can also drop off food donations at Packet Pickup on Saturday, April 23 from 11am-5pm at Second Sole (8791 Mentor Avenue/Mentor).
Needed items:
Canned fruit, peanut butter, soup
Canned pasta, granola bars, pop tarts
Oatmeal, small boxes of bagged cereal
Mac and Cheese, Ramen
Mentor Nissan will donate $5 to the Mentor High School Track and Field team for every registration.
