Description
Race Start Times: 8:45 AM (Kids Run) and 9:00 (5K)
Royal Family KIDS is an international organization of volunteers who mentor, guide and support children of trauma. Our goal is to intervene in their lives and provide guidance, structure, and love for children placed in foster care.
Royal Family KIDS of Franklin County was founded in 2002 to enrich the lives of Franklin County’s abused and neglected children. The organization is distinctive in that it serves these children through a one week residential summer camp and continual long term mentorships throughout the school year.
RFK operates camps where kids are allowed to be kids for a week that is filled with activities designed to make them feel safe while they have fun. And most of all, it is a week that “creates positive memories” for each child. The camp curriculum and activities are designed specifically to build self-esteem. Finally, the camp guides are paired with only two children for the week and are trained to handle their unique needs and behaviors.
Average cost per camper and staff member is $600 (for the week). This cost covers the camp facility, housing, all meals, as well as the curriculum and all supplies associated with teaching. Costs for each year range from $20,000 to $40,000, dependent upon the number of kids and staff. Additional funds are required for our yearly mentoring program where we provide a "taste of camp," while connecting deeper with the children from camp on a monthly basis. Our goal for 2025 camp is to be able to reach 40 children.
With this in mind, we are hosting our inaugural Royal Run For The Children, a 5K Run/Walk with a Kids Run (ages 6-8), on September 28, 2024, at Glacier Ridge Metro Park, 9801 Hyland-Croy Road, Plain City, Ohio 43064. Registration the day of event will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the Kids Run taking off at 8:45 a.m., and finally the 5K Run/Walk launching at 9:00 a.m.
Your participation, donation, and/or volunteering, will ensure that we continue to serve as many children as possible on an annual basis. Our fundraising goal for 2024-2025 is to raise $60,000 so that we will be financially solvent for the foreseeable future.
