2021 Oklahoma LETR Torch Run

Each year, hundreds of Oklahoma law enforcement employees organize and participate in the Torch Run for Special Olympics. The Torch Run is a series of relay runs leading up to the Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games. Runners carry the Torch from all corners of the state and meet up in Stillwater. The culmination of the run is at the Summer Games Opening Ceremonies, where the torch bearers bring the “Flame of Hope” into the ceremonies to light the Summer Games cauldron.

This year's Torch Run will be a little different and we need your help.  Special Olympics events have been put on hold during the pandemic.  This fall, Special Olympics events will start back up for the first time since the Winter Games in January, 2020.  Help us get the Special Olympics athletes off the bench and back in the game. 

The Law Enforcement Torch Run's goal is to run, walk or bike a total of 12,100 miles, one mile for each Special Olympics athlete in Oklahoma, and raise $50,000 to help Special Olympics Oklahoma resume normal activities with over 70 events this fall.  It is vital that we resume these activities for individuals with intellectual disabilities as we continue get through this pandemic that has kept them isolated.  Special Olympics athletes need in person events.  They need the social interaction.  They need to be with peers.  They need the hugs, the high fives and the roar of the crowd cheering them on.
