Good Morning Salem Paddy Pint Goers!

We would like to thank you for your continued support during these difficult times for our community and hope that you and your families are staying healthy. We have received many questions about the status of this year's race since announcing the postponement in March; Where is my refund? Can I defer until next year's race? When is the race being rescheduled to? We hope that we can answer some of these questions for you now as they have all been thoroughly considered in our decision to move forward and left us wondering can we still create a successful race this year? And how? Our decision to proceed with a virtual race has been influenced by your voice and our initial foundation for creating  the Salem Paddy Pint four years ago; our local children have dental needs. These needs will not subside even if there is a pandemic. As a dental practice, we have witnessed these needs first hand as we have performed exclusive, emergency dental care for patients throughout Salem these past few months. Dental treatment is still necessary and the Tooth Taxi with The Dental Foundation of Oregon provides this care to children in our community who may not be able to afford it, access care easily, or have not been educated on the importance. The Dental Foundation of Oregon counts on events like ours and participants like you to help raise funds to be able to service these needs and without it, the accessibility for dental care diminishes. With this in mind, it is our pleasure to announce that the Salem Paddy Pint has been rescheduled as a virtual race this year to accommodate recent happenings and allow flexibility with schedules. We encourage you to get out and enjoy a local trail, stay inside and hop on your treadmill, or visit a local running track. However you do it, know that you have a purpose and are doing this for a great cause!  If you have already registered for the Salem Paddy Pint prior to March 14th, 2020, you have been automatically switched to participate in the virtual race for all events. This race will be held between Wednesday, June 17th beginning at 8:00 AM and ending Monday, June 22nd at 11:59 PM. You can complete your run anytime, anyplace, in the rain or the shine just complete your distance by 11:59 PM on Monday, June 22nd. Simply pick up your event shirt and drink voucher for your free pint at Morning Star Community Church located at 4775 27th Ave SE Salem, OR 97302 on Thursday, June 11th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM or on Wednesday, June 17th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Please take note of these important instructions and changes for pick-up, we are asking individuals to REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE during pick-up. There will be two DRIVE-UP lines available. Please use caution with appropriate speed limits as volunteers will be on foot and located in ORANGE EVENT STAFF VESTS. Please provide us with your name and bib number at check-in. As always, shirt exchanges will NOT be allowed as inventory is already pre-purchased. For your safety and ours, volunteers will be wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Registration has opened back up and there are still shirts available. Registration will close Monday, June 15th. We appreciate your kindness!

Upon pick- up you will receive your EVENT SHIRT as well as a drink voucher for your FREE PINT for Sparky's Brewing Company. This voucher may be redeemed at Sparky's Brewing Company ONLY. Located at: 1252 23rd St. SE, #110 Salem, Oregon. Voucher will only be honored with proof of registration and is good for (1) alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. This voucher expires 12/31/2020.

"Timing Bibs" will not be distributed for this race. You may print your Virtual Race Bib in your "Profile" click this link for instructions: Digital Bib

Unfortunately, at this time, we will not be hosting Raffle Prize Sales and all raffle prizes will be held for next year's race. We apologize that we are unable to fulfill this part of the fundraiser and so much appreciate those who have donated raffle prizes. 

All previous donations made and future donations will be presented to The Dental Foundation of Oregon as previously planned.

I am NOT able to complete a virtual run but I have already registered? Don't worry, you are still able to pick-up your shirt and drink-voucher as previously purchased. If you are not able to pick-up your shirt on set pick-up dates, please contact us directly so that we may make arrangements for an alternative pick-up time and date. You are not required to run or submit results for this race. At this time we are not processing refunds. If you are not able to complete the event you have registered for, your registration costs will be donated to The Dental Foundation of Oregon. 



03/12/2020 11:00 AM COVID-19 UPDATE: 

The Salem Paddy Pint which was scheduled for Saturday, March 14th 2020 has been postponed amid recent new rules made by Oregon State officials regarding large gatherings in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. As stated by Governor Kate Brown, "All large gatherings over 250 people will be cancelled statewide effective immediately for four weeks. A gathering is defined as any event in a space in which appropriate social distancing of a minimum of three feet cannot be maintained." We as a committee feel that it is important to take the public's health and safety seriously and to take recommended precautions made by officials. Although it is difficult to reschedule and postpone an event of this size, we are making diligent efforts to reschedule this event at a later date and we will keep you apprised of these changes. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused for you and appreciate your continued support and involvement with the Salem Paddy Pint. We understand that you have made a commitment to us to participate and to support The Dental Foundation of Oregon and we intend to honor that to the fullest potential. Unfortunately, we are not able to keep the event as scheduled for this Saturday. We hope that this fundraiser is as important to you as it is to us and to ensure that the Tooth Taxi will still benefit from this event. Please standby as we make alternative arrangements.

Refunds are not being processed at this time and packet pick-up will be postponed until the announcement of our rescheduled event date. We will update you as soon as possible with our rescheduled date.

Kristen Smith Family Dental Group is hosting our 4th annual Kids Dash (400m), 5K run/walk, and 10K as a fundraiser to support The Dental Foundation of Oregon and their Tooth Taxi which provides children in our local community with free dental care and oral health education. In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, Sparky's Brewing Company will be on site providing food and beverages for participants. Each registered participant will receive a giveaway Unisex Long-Sleeve shirt (XXL at additional $5 charge). Participants for the FREE Kids Dash will have the option to purchase a YOUTH unisex event T-shirt at registration. All registered participants will receive a drink ticket that can be used for either a free alcoholic (for those over 21 with ID present) or non -alcoholic beverage. Participants who sign up after February 26th will not be guaranteed a shirt due to order and processing time. After the run, hang around for Yard Games, Sparky's food and beverage, Awards, and Raffle Drawing. Due to liability and safety concerns, pets are not allowed. We encourage you to dress up, wear green, and run for a great cause!

Race packet pick up will be 2:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday, March 13th at Gallagher Fitness Resources' downtown location. The packets will also be available for pickup the day of the race from 8:30- 9:40 AM at Riverfront park near the Start/Finish. Same day registration will occur 8:30-9:40 AM and will increase by $10 from the original price, these registrants are not guaranteed a giveaway item. 

So Why Get Involved? 

We would like to carefully thank each individual who participated in the 2019 run to benefit The Dental Foundation of Oregon (DFO) and our Marion County children. On March 16th, 2019, we had 618 participants and of those runners and walkers, ages ranged from 1 to 76 years old. Your involvement with the Salem Paddy Pint has not gone without notice and is a major part of the donations made possible. This year we were able to donate $8,613.10 to DFO. It is positively overwhelming to see our community and local businesses come together each year to help support fundraisers that benefit our children’s dental health and encourage physical activity. As a practice, we do our absolute best to provide exceptional care to each patient we see and make it a priority to exceed their needs. However, sometimes our ability is limited with the resources and time we have; by hosting a fundraiser to help benefit the Tooth Taxi, it allows us to reach deserving individuals that we may not otherwise have the opportunity to help. The Dental Foundation of Oregon allows us to indirectly get these children the care they need which is why it is so important for us to dedicate our efforts to assist in supplying their materials and resources. Whether you participated in the Kids Dash, the 5K Run/Walk, or the 10K, it was such a joy to see you running for a great cause; so many familiar faces from prior year’s events, colleagues, and sponsors. We appreciate your commitment to this event and hope that we will receive your continued support in years to come. It was of great pleasure to meet so many new faces this year. We especially want to thank our wonderful sponsors, volunteers and those who donated goods for our raffle drawing; your services are a major factor when planning the event and without your sponsorship, we would not be where we are today.

Raffle Tickets: Will be sold on the day of the race beginning at 8:30 AM for $1 each or 6 for $5. You must be present to win. If you have purchased a ticket, the winner will be announced at the race. Tickets may not be sold to persons under 18 years of age unless the parent or legal guardian of the purchaser witnesses the transaction. All sales are final. See below for what you could win!
