Description
Who has the best running community in the Philadelphia Area/Delaware Valley? Some might say Delco other may say Philly is better. This virtual challenge will finally answer that question. Run solo or make a team up while representing your County/State (we included South Jersey and Northern Delaware in there). The region with the most accumulated mileage wins bragging rights and title of "best running community in the Philadelphia Area-2020." The window to get your miles in runs from 10/1/20 to 12/19/20, 80 days, we'll keep you motivated to get out there and run till the holidays!
Every runner will receive a high-performance, long-sleeve, lightweight Philadelphia Area Race-Off running shirt, as well as a finisher medal They will both be delivered at the end of the challenge.
Of course, runners from across the country and the world are welcome and encouraged to join as well - just choose which PA County or State you want to represent. Whatever your reason for participating, keep in mind that this is a friendly competition that aims to get people up and moving throughout the most beautiful season and best running conditions the Northeast has to offer.
Generous discount opportunities are available including a referral program that rewards runners for inviting their friends to join.
The GOAL:
1) Figure out, once and for all, which is the best running community in our region of the Philadelphia Metro Area. We included the following counties and neighboring States: Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Lehigh, South Jersey and Norther Delaware . We are encouraging friendly rivalry and regional competition, all in a safe manner.
**Disclaimer: Please do not run on unsafe roads, or areas that have been closed off to the public. Practice social distancing and any other requirements set forth by local, state and federal guidelines. This is a virtual run/walk only, please do not gather in large crowds in any one location at the same time.
2) Engage runners, walkers and hikers across the Delaware Valley and the country to get up, get active during the beautiful fall season.
3) Raise funds for great causes!
The Process
The Race-Off officially begins on October 1st and goes till December 19th.
The challenge is all about accumulated mileage although you may report your times as well.It does not matter how you accumulate your mileage as long as you use you are putting one foot in front of the other.
What is allowed? Running, walking and even hiking mileage is all allowed. Biking, swimming, rowing mileage is not valid.
You will report your total mileage through your RunSignUp account. The more frequently you update your mileage, the more accurately we’ll be able to keep score!
You will be required to select one of 8 Counties/Regions in the Delaware Valley when you register. You will REPRESENT that team.
You may select any team you prefer. Don’t worry, you can’t hurt your region’s score by not accumulating mileage. You can only help!
The regional leader board will be updated weekly. This is how you can tell which teams are crushing it and which ones need to step up their game!
In addition to the regional leader board, there will be an individual leader board and a team leader board for sub-teams that will be updated within minutes after you submit your daily mileage and time.
Sub-teams are encouraged and are separate from your overall, regional team. You will have the option to create or join a sub-team within the overall Philly Race-Off and see how you stack up against running teams from across the region.
The SWAG
- All registrants will receive a custom, lightweight, performance, long-sleeve shirt.
- All registrants are also eligible to receive a finisher medal; however, that medal needs to be EARNED! In order to receive a medal, you must record a minimum of 60 miles by the end of the Race-off. (That’s 1 miles per day.) Our goal is to get you moving this fall which to keep you fit!

FAQ
Q: Do I have to be in PA/From PA to do this event?
A: No you do not have to be in or from PA to do this, anyone in the world can do this event!
Q: How do I record my miles?
A: you will record your miles on a the runsignup website. You can do it daily, or you can do it once a week.
Q: Do I have to run or can I walk?
A: you can Run, Walk, Run/walk, hike, any way you can to get the miles. It's your challenge, as long as you are purposefully moving and logging miles, it counts and it counts towards your county/state.
Q: Do I have to run/walk outside?
A: You can go outside, inside, on your roof, in your basement, treadmill, or around the house. Any way you can get your miles in, they count!
Q: Do my miles count from before the start date of my challenge?
A: No, Only miles you do from October 1st to December 19th count.
Q: Can I run/walk multiple times a day?
A: Yes, breaking your miles up several times a day counts too!
Q: Is there planned Construction on the course?
A: Again, you are NOT running on the Highways, you are running in your neighborhood, on your roof, on your treadmill, or around your house. Anything except actually on the highways - Be SAFE!!
Common Trouble Shooting Questions For Recording Miles
Q: I need to enter my next run but I keep entering it and my previous run disappears, how do I fix it?
A: In this example, you are overwriting the previous run. Instead, keep the data the same for the previous run, and click ADD ANOTHER ACTIVITY in order to add your next run/walk. You will continue to do this every time you add a run/walk.
Q: I did not get my link, how do I log my miles?
A: Some email servers block our emails to you. If you do not have your daily link, you can follow this video for instructions on how to log your miles in. Keep in Mind you MUST BE LOGGED INTO THE https://RUNSIGNUP.COM/LOGIN ACCOUNT THAT YOU USED TO REGISTER FOR THE RACE.
Q: When I search my name it does not come up to enter virtual results or it says I don't have permission?
A: You must be logged into the same https://runsignup.com/login account that you registered with.
Q: I don't see the date when I try to log my results, why not?
A: Once you get into the results page, you have to click Add Another Activity. You have to do this every time you log an activity. The time and distance on the right is the total time and distance. It will automatically add that up for you and you don't have to enter anything.
Q: I ran again today, how do I enter a second entry of results?
A: In the results page, choose Add Another Activity. DO NOT JUST OVERWRITE THE PREVIOUS ACTIVITY OR IT WILL DISAPPEAR. Each time you do a new run/walk, you need to click Add Another Activity. At the end of the challenge, If you ran once per day and have 80 runs, you will see all 80 activities in the submit results page. Don't overwrite them.
Q: I made a mistake on entering my results, how do I change it.
A: In this example, you can go in and overwrite the mistake. Don't just enter it again correctly, you have to overwrite the incorrect data.
Q: I entered my results but I don't see them in the listing.
A: The results take a few minutes to update. If it has been a few minutes, double check you are looking at the correct race. There is a drop down box called Result Set - choose that to switch between events. The default is the boardwalk challenge. If you still don't see your results, see the below post on being anonymous.
Q: My wife/friend/mother/daughter registered me, how do I move that to my account?

Q: I am listed as anonymous in the results, why?
A: When you create an account, you have an option to be listed as anonymous in results. If you do not want this, go into your https://runsignup.com profile and click to edit profile. You will see a check box at the bottom that you want to UNCHECK to be listed again.
