WEOF to the Races 5K

Race day Registration and number pickup for the 5K and the 1 mile Fun Run/Walk will begin at 8:00am on Saturday November 12th in the Wissahickon High School stadium near the concession stands.  Early packet pick-up will also be available on Thursday November 10th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the same location.

Schedule of Events:

1 mile Fun Run/Walk - 9:00am

5K Run - 9:30am

Awards - 10:15am

The 2nd annual WEOF to the Races will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 9:30a.m. on the
Wissahickon High School campus. WEOF to the Races is a family-friendly event to raise
money for the Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Foundation to enhance the quality of education for all Wissahickon students by funding programs and educational opportunities ranging from technology to the
arts.

Get Fit for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Less thatn two weeks after the race comes Thanksgiving break (and the overeating that traditionally goes hand in hand). Get some exercise and enjoy a walk or run along a paved path with gentle hills, beautiful terrain and fall foliage!

It’s More Fun to Run as a Team!

Why run alone when you can do it with family and friends? A “team” is any group of 6+ people – just register together and run. Alumni classes, schools, departments, sports teams, clubs and outside organizations are all welcome to run as a team! The more people you register for your team, the more fun it is. PLUS, the team with the highest number of registrants will win a cool prize – literally. Ice Cream! 

During the registration process, a Team Captain (or the first person to register for your school or team) can create a team name. Registrants who follow can select "Teams" and you may choose from a list of existing teams to sign up under.

Three Team Categories:

• Wissahickon Staff/Teachers (i.e. Blue Bell Elementary School, Wissahickon Middle School, etc.)
• Wissahickon Student Team (.e. WHS football team, WMS girls soccer team, etc.)
• Community Team (any group created by the community, including alumni groups)

Enjoy a little competition with your friends, family, and co-workers!

Wissahickon Student and Staff teams with the most registrants win ice cream provided by WEOF. The community team with the most registrants wins a visit from the Bryn Mawr Trust ice cream truck – you name the date and time.

Awards will also be given to the top overall male and female and the top male and female in four age groups (12 and under, 13-19, 20-39, and 40+). Additionally, the top Wissahickon School District staff member will be awarded! AND, 12 registered STAFF members will be selected at random to receive a $50 gift certificate as part of the district’s wellness initiatives.

The Course

The course starts on the Wissahickon High School track and then makes it way through the surrounding neighborhood. With only some slight inclines through the neighborhood, the route continues onto the Lower Gwynedd Trail which is mostly crushed limestone and some pavement. After leaving the path, the participants will travel up the sidewalk on Dager Road and then head back to the high school track for the finish.
