Coach Cullinan Challenge

This October we are celebrating Coach Cullinan’s 65th birthday.  October 15th will also be the seven year anniversary of his death from stomach cancer.  In honor of the incredible cancer research being conducted, and to support the HEADstrong Foundation, we are hosting a Step/Miles/Calorie Burn Virtual Event where all money raised will go directly to support other families whose loved ones are suffering from cancer.  

WHAT IS THE VIRTUAL EVENT

The Virtual Challenge gives you the flexibility to be an athlete on your own time, at your own pace, and in your own space.

WHERE AND WHEN

You can complete the Virtual Event Monday, October 17 thru Monday, October 31 inside (on a treadmill, stationary bike, or weight lifting) or outside.

EVENT CHALLENGES

One registration will grant you access to compete in any or all of the 3 challenges listed below.  Participate as an individual or gather friends or family to form a team of 10 or more!

1. STEP CHALLENGE:

   • 159,000 Steps (Individual) or 1,590,000 Steps (Team) Challenge

     • Estimated number of new USA male stomach cancer cases per year* = 15,900
       * according to the American Cancer Society

2. MILES CHALLENGES:

   • 100 Bike Miles (Individual) or 1000 Bike Miles (Team) Challenge

     • Pat would have continued to play and coach lacrosse for well over 100 years, if his health had permitted it..

   • 26.2 Walk/Run Miles (Individual) or 262 Run/Walk Miles (Team) "Stomach Cancer" Marathon Challenge

     • There will be an estimated 26.2 new cases of stomach cancer every 2.75 hours in 2022*
       * according to the American Cancer Society

3.  CALORIE BURN CHALLENGE: 

   • 6,690 Calories Burned (Individual) or 66,900 Calories Burned (Team) Challenge

     • Estimated number of USA male stomach cancer deaths per year* = 6,690
       * according to the American Cancer Society

COST

$35/participant (includes 2022 tee shirt)
$300/10 person team (includes tee shirt for all 10 participants) - once you register the team, the next 9 registrants have no additional costs!

PRIZES

There will be an individual and a team prize for each event challenge.

RESULTS

Virtual Results : All results will be user/self-submitted and automatically updated periodically throughout each day of the event. When submitting your miles/steps you can choose to remain Anonymous and/or to just mark as "complete" if you don't want to share your actual miles. Make sure to submit your mile(s) for the proper Challenge. You can submit in one of the following ways: 

1. Results tab on this website
2. Your Runsignup profile
3. SMS Text Message (instructions will be texted to you if you allow text-based notifications from Runsignup in your profile settings)

Multiple submissions : You are allowed to submit your results multiple times during the race period and they will display cumulatively.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• No confirmation will be sent, verify entry here
• Race scored by DQ Events based on registrants' submissions
• Event promoters have the right to alter or cancel events for any reason
