Description
What is Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)? A motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech.
Why Race?
- To raise awareness about childhood apraxia of speech.
- To raise funds sustaining the programs and resources offered by Apraxia Kids, the leading nonprofit that strengthens the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech.
- To honor our Apraxia Stars - they fight and overcome the challenges of CAS each and every day. Dedicate this race to someone special or to recognize the efforts of all our stars.
- To conquer a goal - whether your New Year's resolution is to start a hobby, try a new activity, reach a fitness milestone, donate to a cause, or spread awareness about childhood apraxia of speech, the 5K Voice Venture can help you accomplish one or all your goals!

Who can race? All Skill Levels of walkers, joggers, and runners are encouraged and welcome.
It's Race Time!
This is a VIRTUAL EVENT!
When you feel prepared to officially complete your 2025 Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture:
- Select any day in January to be your race day.
- Wear blue or an Apraxia Kids shirt. Don't forget to wear a race bib!
- Race at a location most comfortable to you - a treadmill, in your neighborhood, in a park, on a city sidewalk, or wherever is safe and offers you the best experience.
- Take photos - log back in after the race and share your photos on this race site!
Print your own Race Bib:
- Log into your profile
- Under Upcoming Events - Look for the Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture and click "View Digital Bib". Click Print!
- Cut out your Race Bib and pin to yourself while you race. If you are racing in honor of someone, use a marker and write their name on the bib!
Submit your official results online! Official Race Results are Due January 31, 2025!
- Log into your race profile
- Under Upcoming Events - Look for the Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture event and click "Submit Virtual Results"
Race, Submit, Win!
Prizes will be awarded. To qualify, participants must have a personal race page (click SIGN UP) AND submit their official results online. Due January 31, 2025!
Qualifying Categories:
- Top participants to raise funds - online only, through their 5K Voice Venture fundraising page - 2 winners
- Top overall racer with the fastest time - 1 winner
- Top female racer with the fastest time - 1 winner
- Top male racer with the fastest time - 1 winner
- Middle of the Pack - the racer with the time in the middle of all submitted results - 1 winner
- The Oldest Participant to race & submit results - 1 winner
- The Youngest Participant to race & submit results - 1 winner
Prizes include Apraxia Kids swag. Winners will be contacted via email by Tuesday, February 4.
