DESCRIPTION

The Dire Wolf is a challenging trail run consisting of hills, rocks, roots, a rugged downhill switchback, and a shallow creek crossing (unless it rains!). The course is a mix of fire trail, single-track, and grass. Runners of all speeds and abilities are welcome.  Members of the Octorara Junior and Senior High School cross country teams are stationed throughout the course to provide direction and enthusiastic encouragement.

ALL proceeds from this race benefit of the Octorara Cross Country Team Booster. Come out for a great day on the trails and support the young men and women of Octorara!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
  • 7:30am - 8:45am - Race Bib Pickup and Day of Registration  REGISTRATION CLOSES PROMPTLY AT 8:45am
  • 8:50am - Race Announcements / Instructions
  • 9:00am - 10 Mile Race Start
  • 9:00am -  5 Mile Race Start
  • Award Ceremony Begins once enough runners from each race cross the finish line TBD

Registration before  OCTOBER 1ST: Includes: a long sleeve tech tee available in unisex sizing.
Registration after OCTOBER 1ST: Long sleeve tech tee will be available for purchase based on availability.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION:

Race Day Registration is available from 7:30am-8:45am. Cost of Race Day Registration is as follows payable by cash or check only.

  • Dire Wolf 10 Mile Race - $50
  • Dire Wolf 5 Mile Race -   $40

Parking: is somewhat limited so carpool if possible.

Start/finish, registration, and portable bathrooms all conveniently located near parking area.

Post-race refreshments provided for all participants. Emergency medical services on standby.  Race held rain or shine.

AWARDS FOR BOTH THE 5 AND 10 MILE RACE:

Top Overall Male and Female Finishers

Course Record Breaker will receive $100 Cash Award (Course Record is held by Ultra-runner Zach Miller 1:01:38) - 10 MILE TRAIL RACE

Awards will be given to the Overall Male and Female finishers and the top three Male and top three Female in the follow age categories.

IMPORTANT RACE INFORMATION

  • There is a strict NO LITTERING policy for this race.  
  • There is a race cutoff time.  This is not a hike or super hike.  This is a trail running event and the assumption is you will be running - at east the majority of the time. If you plan to hike this is NOT the event to do so. You must reach each aid station by the cutoff time.  If you do not meet the cutoff at each aid station you will be asked to drop from the race and instructed on how to exit the course.  Failure to comply with the Race Directors and or Volunteers instruction will result in disqualification from the race and any further races under the RD.  This is for the safety of all runners and volunteer staff.
  • If you need assistance please proceed to the nearest aid station or wait for the next runner for help.  STAY ON THE MARKED TRAIL. You are ultimately responsible for staying on course.  If you find yourself lost or off trail go back to the last spot that you saw a marker and follow the the next race marker to get back on the race route.  
  • No course cutting.
  • NO BANDITS or any unauthorized runners.  Only runners that have registered for this race are allowed to run.  You may NOT run under another persons name or transfer a bib to any other runner.  Any such action will be an immediate disqualification for the registered runner and the unauthorized runner.
 

***COURSE CUTOFF TIME***
There will be a 3 hour and 30 minute cutoff.

If you do not meet the cutoff time you will be asked to drop from the course and turn your bib into that aid station.

This event is Rain or Shine.

YOU MUST SIGN THE RACE WAIVER FOR THIS RACE WITH YOUR LEGAL NAME THAT IS PRINTED ON YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE 
IF YOU USE AN ALIAS AS A RUNNER YOU MUST MAKE SURE A WAIVER IS SIGNED WITH YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME AND YOUR ALIAS NOTED ON THE WAIVER.

The Race Director reserve the right to:
Deny entry to the event to any competitor at their sole discretion. if you are denied entry you will receive a refund.
Disqualify an entrant for a violation of the rules. If you are disqualified you will not receive any type of refund
