Dylan Ludwig 5K Run/Walk 2017
Kids Color Run at Van Dusen at start of Race!
The Family of Dylan Russell Ludwig is so happy to hold the Second Dylan Ludwig 5K Run/Walk on Faith. Our hope in continuing this race is to remember Dylan and all that he was about. There is a story behind how this Run on Faith came to being. After Dylan passed away, all of us close to him had doubt about our ability to go on without him with us here. Every second of every minute of every hour and day was a struggle to push through. As time passes and we make our way through all of this, you realize that there is no other choice but to push, fight, and persevere as it is not yet our time to go home. It is not explainable now, but someday will be. Thus the story of the Race.
The best way to honor him is to rise to the challenge. This race will challenge you to push yourself to try your best and is our reminder of his strength and perseverance. The theme of this race is "Running on Faith".
“Keeping the Faith” was a phrase that we embraced while we spent time in the hospital in Philadelphia. There were many curve balls that were thrown at Dylan during his battle with Leukemia. He faced these challenges with Faith in God that it would work out and that it was all in God’s hands.
Dylan spent his younger years focused on doing the absolute best he could in the things that he chose to do. He had a never give up way of thinking that followed him through sports that he played, work that he chose, and the relationships that he had. As his family, when someone tells us that Dylan was an inspiration to them, there is no greater compliment to hear.
The term “LudwigStrong” was used as a way to rally support of the entire community while Dylan was fighting the disease. “Keeping the Faith” is the term that comes from the Bible verse 2 Corinthians 5:7 - For We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight. Dylan’s passing has redirected our focus from fighting that battle to now looking forward to the joyous reunion that we will have when we see him again in Heaven.
May you gain strength, challenge yourself, keep the faith & remain LUDWIGSTRONG!
Sincerely, The Family of Dylan Russell Ludwig
