2022 Race Details
Sesame Place Classic 2022 – Race details

This year’s Sesame Place Classic will be the 22nd running of this ever-popular event.

Back again for 2022 -  Registration and timing for the 1 mile and 5K will be handled by Lin-Mark Sports now of Cape Coral Florida.  All timed entrants will have the option during their entry process to have results texted to their cell phones.

Sponsored by the Levittown Bristol Kiwanis Club and the Bucks County Herald, the Classic is back with all the usual fun, namely a featured 5K, a one-mile fun run/walk and a kids’ sprint races event.

The race includes a free, one-day admission ticket to Sesame Place for all who register. Passes are good until June 30th 2022. Also returning are last year’s “finisher’s medals,’’ which proved to be quite popular in previous years. Oh, and did we mention the cool collectable race T-shirt?

Proceeds from the race go to the Dick Dougherty Scholarship Fund, named for the late sports editor of the Bucks County Courier Times. Since the race’s inception in 1999, $500,000 has been raised to assist college-bound scholar-athletes from 18 Bucks County high schools.

Where?
The Kiwanis-Herald SESAME PLACE Classic 2022 will start at the entrance to the park on North Bucks Town road, Middletown Township, PA 19047. It will follow a USATF-certified (#PA15001LMB) 5k out-and-back course around Oxford Valley Mall. For details of the course, please scroll down.

When?
On Sunday, May 15, 2022 beginning at 7 a.m. in Middletown Township.

1-mile @ 7 a.m  |  5K @ 8 a.m.  |  Sprint @ 8:45 a.m.

Both the 5K and the 1 mile will be officially timed with medals for the top winners.

How Much?
The entry fee for the 5K and 1-mile fun run is $35 ($25 for the Sprint) until May 1st.
Registration after May 1st for the 5K and 1-mile fun run is $40 ($30 for the Sprint).
Registration will be available on race day for $45.

What about teams?
Sure thing! Many teams use this event as a fundraiser for their own club or society. Register your team of 20 or more participants for additional benefits, like a $5 per-participant cash-back. Email jillyet-at-gmail-dot-com or call us at 267-980-4828 for team details. Team registration closes on April 15th 2022, so don’t wait too long!

But wait, there’s more!
Register early to guarantee a cool Sesame Place Classic T-shirt.

Who?
Everybody is welcome to run – pick your distance and pick your pace. We expect over 800 runners, so this should be fun!

This said we suggest:

The sprint is for budding athletes aged 10 or younger.
The one miler is a good distance at any age.
The 5K is recommended for big kids aged 9 to 99. Any runners under 10 must run with an adult. The course is pretty straightforward, but we wouldn’t want any wayward children.
As long as they are safe to race, wheelchairs prams or pushchairs are welcome.
The Course
The 2022 course will be identical to our pre-pandemic setup.

With course marshals and pace bikes, the course is wide, flat and very safe. The course starts at the Sesame Park entrance and heads along North Buckstown Road towards Oxford Valley Mall. The course then follows the Oxford Valley Mall ring-road counter-clockwise from approx 1 O’clock to 5 O’clock on the ring-road. Here the course doubles back for a smooth 2.5K return.
