Description

The Skunk and Goat Tavern is proud to continue the tradition of the Miller Mistletoe Mile!

This one-mile run/walk race around downtown North East is the perfect way to spread holiday cheer and enjoy an evening of family fun & community in our picture-perfect downtown.

As always, the race intends to lift up the community, and proceeds are donated to help in some way.

This year, all proceeds from the race will go to the Phil Sarver Scholarship, administered by the North East Sports Boosters. Many North East residents knew Phil as a teacher, coach, bus driver, and Assistant Athletic Director at The North East School District. While these were certainly noble pursuits in his career, Phil was much more to the people he knew and loved. Phil had an excellent way of advising, teaching, and leading everyone around him. While he led by example, he also led by showing teachable moments. Phil always showed students, co-workers, parents, and athletes a better path.

Phil never missed a teachable moment in victory or defeat. He often would use humor to disarm the frustrated and explain by example. Phil was the master of this technique and yet was always humble. Unfortunately, we lost Phil earlier this year to a genetic incurable autoimmune disease.

In honor of Phil and his dedication to his students and the North East community, please help us keep Phil’s legacy alive through the Phil Sarver Scholarship Fund. All proceeds from the Miller Mistletoe Mile will go to the Phil Sarver Scholarship to continue the betterment of our students in the community.
