Black Moshannon Monster Hunt Race

The Black Moshannon Monster Hunt is an adventure scavenger race that will be held at Black Moshannon State Park.  You will go to a station, complete an activity, and get a clue to continue to the next station.  The race course will not be revealed in advance.  You must figure out which trail to take from the clues.  Each station will include a Halloween theme to help you with the clues.  Participants will get wet and muddy!  Awards will be given to the first and second place in the 5K run.  There is also an award for best costume of the day and group costume.

5 K Run Or Hike

This is a 5 K course that includes some roadways, but mostly trails.   Participants will have a kayak or archery activity (equipment provided).  An obstacle course with a mud pit will need to be overcome before ending the race at the slip and slide. 

Early registration is $20.  T-shirts are guaranteed if signed up by Sept 14.  Race Day check in is from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the beach area.  The race begins at 1:00 pm.   A bake/craft sale will be held from 12:00 pm until race finish at the Environmental Learning Center area.   No refunds will be given.

The Black Moshannon Monster Hunt Race is held in memory of Mike McCloskey who was a dedicated park volunteer and outsdoorsman.  He lost a long, hard fought battle to chronic lymphocytic leukemia in January 2013 at 41 years old.     The proceeds from each year's race is donated to local family in need due to a medical condition.  

The 7th Annual Black Moshannon Monster Hunt Race will benefit  Eva Butterworth.  Eva is 3 years old and was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain).  She has received about 30 brain surgeries, has a feeding tube, and has issues with her eyes, which cause her to need to use cream to keep them from drying out.  All proceeds from the Monster Hunt Race will benefit Eva and her family towards medical bills and travel to Philadelphia to see her doctors.  .
