The W.C.Bayard Rustin Environmental Club cordially invites you to participate in the West Chester Rustin Earth Day 5K and Walk. The event will be held Sunday, April 26, 2020 at West Chester Rustin High School. The 5K run will kick off at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 1-mile walk at 9:15 a.m. Awards will be given for the top 3 men and women finishers and for selected age group awards.

The out and back 5k run/1-mile walk course starts at Rustin’s Football Stadium and continues on the trails throughout the campus. The event will be timed using chip timing equipment provided by the Chester County Racing Services (www.runccrs.com).

5 K Run registration: $30 (Early registration $5 discount)
1-Mile Walk registration: $20 (Early registration $5 discount)

REFUND POLICY
This is a RAIN or SHINE event. NO refunds will be issued for registration fees; however, registration insurance is offered on our race registration website.

RACE GIVEAWAYS
ALL participants that register prior to Friday 4/19/2020 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Extras for late registrants will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

You and your friends :-)
Your running shoes
Reusable water bottle. There will be water jugs available to fill your reusable water bottles before, during, and after the race. To limit the waste generated by the race, paper cups will be available for mid-race hydration only. In addition, we will offer bananas and apples to races and compost the peels and cores :-)

WHERE DO THE RACE PROCEEDS GO?
All race proceeds will be donated to the following local environmental conservation and research groups:

• Stroud Water Research Center Future of Fresh Water Initiative - The goal of this program is to strengthen ongoing research and to expand community empowerment programs to protect clean freshwater regionally and globally.
• Open Land Conservancy of Chester County - The mission of the organization is to preserve open space for wildlife habitat and passive recreation as well as to perform community outreach and environmental education.
• CRC Watersheds Tree Fund - This fund is used to match support the planting of trees in the Chester, Ridley, and Crum Creek watersheds.
