Penn Wynne 5K

Course: strollers welcome!

This year we will be continuing last-year’s spectator-friendly course through rolling Penn Wynne beginning and ending at the Penn Wynne Elementary School. The course includes a good downhill section near the start of the race, followed by a long flat stretch, then a steady climb and some rollers during the gradual descent, ending with a zig-zag back up to PWES. The race retraces a few sections to allow runners and fans to see each other as the action unfolds.

The 1 Mile Fun Run goes through the Penn Wynne neighborhood and loops back to the school, giving participants of all ages and speeds the thrill of crossing the finish line.

Awards:

The overall top female and male runner will receive a trophy and a gift certificate to The Running Place Newtown Square.

Medals will go to the top female and male runner in each adult age group as specified below.

Medals will also go to the top 3 female and male runner in each elementary school age group as specified below.

A special award will be given to the top female and male Penn Wynne staff member.

All youth finishers will receive an achievement award.

Age groups:

Adult Age Groups: 13 – 19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 & over.

Youth Age Groups:  6 & under, 7 – 8, 9 – 10, 11 – 12

Water facilities:

A water station will be located at the 1.5 mile point.

Restrooms are located inside Penn Wynne Elementary School.

Schedule:

•   7:45 a.m. Registration begins

•   8:30 a.m. Organized stretching before race

•   9:00 a.m. Start of the 5K Race

•   9:02 a.m. Start of the 1 Mile Family Fun Run

•   9:55 a.m. Awards Ceremony and Post Race Picnic

•   10:15 a.m. Toddler / Young Runner run & events on PWES field (or inside PWES if inclement weather)
