As we (hopefully) wind down from our stay at home practices, and after the success of the SCTS 8 Week Challenge, we offer you a similar and different challenge to test your training during the month of June. The SCTS June Distance Challenge is a similar competition to the 8 Week Challenge, yet we will now be tracking distance covered instead of time.
Please NOTE this activity will be tracked through the South Carolina Triathlon Series Club on Strava. You will need to have a Strava account to participate and log your miles and time. You can sign up for the SCTS Strava Club HERE. For this challenge Strava will be used to verify your results by our team. You will upload your activity directly into the RunSignUp platform. This will count towards the final SCTS qualifications for 2020. Please remember - you will want to sign up in the same category as you would a normal on site race to receive credit towards your final series standings. To compete and count towards SCTS qualifications, you will need to do some combination of cycling and running (aquabikes are the exception). Swim. Bike and Run miles will count toward the required minimum.
The SCTS June 2020 Challenge will be your place to share, track and compare your total training miles swimming, cycling and running during the month of June. All registered athletes will receive a "race" t-shirt in the mail and series points for a minimum level of participation (details below). We will also send out awards in the following categories:
NOTE: The actual dates of training that will count are Monday, June 1, 2020 to Sunday, June 28, 2020. Any miles covered on June 29 or June 30 will not count toward the final score.
While we realize nothing about this is ideal, or exactly how we expected to be during June of our 2020 Triathlon season, we are also amazed at the dedication of our athletes to the sport and to fitness and we want to make sure your training efforts are recognized and rewarded. And, we will be perfectly honest, with no revenue coming in for us, we need something to help keep us afloat. Before you register we want you to understand 100% of any profits made from this event will be going directly to us in an effort to weather this financial storm through the paying of salaries to our employees and the other bills we are still paying. If you are opposed to this idea we completely understand and ask you not to register.
Series Scoring for this event will be very simple. Every athlete who does a minimum combined total of 280 miles of training during the 4 weeks will receive a South Carolina Triathlon Series score of 6000.
NOTE: 280 miles is the width of the state of South Carolina at its widest point. So, you will be able to say you traveled across the state under your own power in a month's time.
Please register under the proper category so your points will be assigned to you in the proper category for the remainder of the race season (Open, Age Group, Clydesdale, Athena, etc).
