Description
On October 26th at 2:00 PM at the Hunter Museum, join us for our annual Hope for Haiti Walk-a-Thon. You’ll choose your route - roughly 1, 2 or 3 miles - each mile representing the path of a monitrice from one child to the next. Even if you walk the full 3 miles, you’ll only cover a fraction of what she does in a single day.
Then the celebration begins!
- 🎶 Live music from a local Haitian jazz band
- 👕 Event t-shirt for every walker
- 🥤 A free drink for every walker
- 🍴 Food, games, and fun at the Hunter when the walk concludes
By walking together, we shine a light on the tireless efforts of our staff—and the children still waiting for help.
Route Details
The Walk-a-Thon route will be up to 3 miles, and you’ll get to choose your distance—roughly 1, 2, or 3 miles. Each mile represents the path of a monitrice walking from one child to the next. Even if you walk the full 3 miles, you’ll only cover a fraction of what she does in a single day!
Along the way, you’ll stop at “houses” located around the 0.5 mile, 1 mile, and 1.5 mile markers (since the route is out-and-back). At each house, you’ll find water stations and stories of children who need help—the very children a monitrice would be walking to visit. These stops will keep you refreshed while also helping you connect more deeply with the purpose of your walk.
