Journey Paratriathlon Camp - Arlington, will be held July 30- August 1, 2021 on the beautiful campus of University of Texas at Arlington presented by Para Endurance Coaching.
This camp provides highly engaging & interactive instructions for of the basics of paratriathlon through interactive drills and lectures in a safe, accessible environment. It's geared to all skill levels, with an emphasis on first-timers. The camp is intended and designed for adults, but is accepting applications from youth 15 years old and up. Minors will be asked for recommendations & will be vetted to determine compatibility with the camp demands. The three day experience blends educational and practical sessions in a usable, dynamic manner that culminates with a non-timed/non-competitive race simulation. We ask athletes to arrive on Thursday evening and we will conclude by mid-day on Sunday. 
It is designed and led by certified USA Paratriathlon coaches and assisted by experienced para-athletes and vetted volunteers. This camp is USAT Sanctioned and meets all the standards for being para-friendly as set forth by USA Paratriathlon.
This camp is available to:  athletes with a medically verified physical, visual, or neurological impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Mobility impaired, amputee, vision impaired, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and wheelchair athletes are the focus.
This camp is not available to:Those with miscellaneous conditions such as, but not limited to, intolerance to temperature extremes, organ transplants, joint replacements (endoprosthetics), kidney dialysis, hearing impaired and or cognitive impairment are not candidates for this camp.
Application opens May 4. Maximum capacity is 15 confirmed registrants. A waiting list will be utilized.
Cost: $50 plus processing fees. (Financial assistance for lodging can be requested and is allocated on a case by case assessment.) 
Guides for Vision Impaired athletes: Please email Scott in advance for registration code & you will not be charged the registration fee. However, you still must be USAT member. 
Because this is a USAT sanctioned event, everyone participating must hold a one day license fee for an additional $15 (waived if you are already a current member of USAT) 
Participants will receive: personal instruction in pool swim, cycling, running, nutrition and how to put it all together for a triathlon; 
T-shirt; swag bag full of goodies; education sessions; mechanical support; refreshments; boxed lunch on Friday & Saturday; tons of encouragement; group photo; new friends & memories for a lifetime.
We will do our best, but cannot guarantee that hand cycle or race chair equipment that needs to be borrowed, will be available or provided.
Lodging and meals are not included in this camp fee. We will have a host hotel that offers a special camp rate.  
Refund policy: This is a no refund, non-transferable event. 
A minimum number of 8 registered applicants will be required by July 8 for the camp to materialize. If this minimum timeline is not met, the camp administrator reserves the right to notify & fully refund those registered. 
Acceptance into the camp
Once registrations are processed and accepted, confirmation emails will be sent by July 8. In the acceptance confirmation email, you will find more details about what to bring. You will also get a personal phone call from our camp staff so that we might get to know you, your situation, and be prepared to serve you best. Those not accepted will be notified by email and given instructions about our waiting list procedure.
You must provide:
  • bicycle helmet that is less than five years old & not damaged
    • all participants may access generous discount code for Rudy Project helmets via confirmation email...
  • Swim Goggles
  • Swim suit/attire
  • Casual clothes for workouts

COVID- 19 Guidelines
This event meets and/or exceeds the 2021 Safety Certification standards for USAT.
Safety is our number one priority.
  • We offer event protocols and best practices based on and as sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
  • This effort is to best manage, mitigate, and minimize the current Covid situation we face. 
  • We do all that is reasonably possible to provide a safe, professional training experience to all participants as they prepare for the camp.
  • The expectations are based on the USAT Return to Racing Recommendations report: https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/Events/Safe-Return-to-Multisport  
  • All participants will be expected to adhere to all guidelines and best practices in order to minimize the risks for all participants. 
  • You should seek advice from medical professionals if you have specific questions about your situation or your participation at camp.
  • All campers should self-monitor for signs or symptoms of COVID-19 daily. If you develop any signs or symptoms, you will notify Coach Scott via text or phone call, not come to any sessions and contact your healthcare provider. 
  • If you experience any symptoms of COVID-19 during the camp, we will ask you to self-isolate until you can depart or be picked up.
  • Frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer with a minimum alcohol of 60% ethyl or 70% isopropyl.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, dispose of the tissue in the trash, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
  • Participants will be responsible for the control of their own nutrition and hydration needs.
  • Do not share food, water bottles, towels or other personal hygiene products (i.e. sunscreen, chamois butter, electrolytes, etc.)
  • When it becomes necessary to be in contact with another person or their equipment, every appropriate precaution will be taken, i.e., sanitize before and after. 
  • Follow all facility and training venue guidelines and cleaning protocols (which includes cleaning all training equipment before and after use).
  • Sanitize all shared surfaces
  • Where possible we will provide sanitation stations
  • Keep all belongings contained to your room
  • Do not share food, water bottles, towels or other personal hygiene products (i.e. sunscreen, chamois butter, electrolytes, etc.)
  • Vaccination is encouraged, not required
