Description
The 6th Annual Groundhog Day Triathlon is the perfect introduction to the 2054 Season and will be held at Club Westside located at 1200 Wilcrest, Houston, Texas. You will get 10 minutes for your swim, 10 minutes transition from pool to bike, 25 minute bike (spin bike), 5 minutes transition from bike to run, and 20 minute run. Each swimmer will share a lane for the swim, we will with have 12 swimmers that start each wave and a new wave will start every 5 minutes. The swim is in an outdoor pool, but the temperature for the water is always 82 degrees. The run is on an indoor track and a volunteer will help count your laps.
This year we will also have Duathlon and Dry Swim Option. The Duathlon will run a half mile before the bike and the dry swim will have 10 minutes on a rower.
Packet pick up will be the morning of the event, so each athlete will need to check in 20 minutes prior to their start time. Please check in before your start time or you will be eliminated from the event. Results will be determined by a distance calculation for each segment of the race in the time allowed. Awards will be given out in the following age groups; 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and Over for men and women.
Each athlete will receive a long sleeve shirt, bib, and finisher medal and after event breakfast. We look forward to seeing you.

Awards
Overall top male and female, overall top master’s male and female will receive medals. Top 3 in age groups and relay teams (All women, all men, and mixed) will receive medals. Age groups are 14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 Plus. Clydesdale (220lbs & Over) First three. Athena (165lbs & Over) First three will also receive a medal.
All athletes will receive a shirt, finisher medal, and much more.
Timing
We will take the distances from each area and add them together. We are looking for the top three distance in each group.
USA Triathlon
This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event so a USA Triathlon membership will be required by each athlete participating. If you do not have a membership you can purchase one when you register or at packet pick up. An annual membership for 17 and under is $10, a one day for 18 & older is $15, and an annual for 18 & older is $50. For more information please visit, www.usatriathlon.org.

This event only has event day pick up.
Event Schedule
First round of swimmers will start at 7am and we will start new athletes every 15 minutes.
The first group of swimmers will then go to the bikes and then to the run. Each group that starts new will do the following.
Cancellations
This is a rain or shine event. Occasionally weather can play a part in an event; if this occurs we will make all efforts to continue the event or eliminate segments so we may continue with your safety as our first concern. If the event must be rescheduled due to any reason (etc, weather or pandemic), you will be moved to the new date; if the event is cancelled no refunds will be given.
