How does your money help?
Limited financial resources, lack of access to youth sports programs, social isolation, and barriers to healthy lifestyle activities are just some of the challenges young people face in accessing running programs. Through HKRS Cedar Park's 5-week fall and spring running series, and having a supportive community presence, HKRS Cedar Park helps kids build confidence, develop healthy habits, and overcome obstacles to active living. HKRS Cedar Park is part of a nationally recognized organization. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit it offers registration assistance to ensure all children can participate regardless of their family's financial situation, and anyone can access their programs including families new to running. All of their programs are welcoming, inclusive, and tailored to each individual child's age and ability level. Your money helps to do this.
Note: Due to the seasonal nature of bluebonnets, this event is scheduled during peak bloom time. Trail conditions are weather-dependent, and routes may be adjusted to protect natural areas.
The Bluebonnet Trail Run is managed and organized by Fit Foundation volunteers in aid of Healthy Kids Running Series Cedar Park youth programs.

Half Marathon Course: The Turkey Bend Epic

Course Flow: 1 Full Big Loop (10.41 miles) +3 Laps of the Peninsula Circuit (5K Course).
Terrain: A mix of technical single-track and fast, flat riverfront meadows.
Course Description
This premier distance offers a "tale of two trails". Runners start by tackling the Big Loop, a 10.41-mile trek that dives deep into the rugged Turkey Bend backcountry. This section is characterized by technical climbs, rocky switchbacks, and dense cedar groves.
After conquering the high-elevation technical sections, runners return to the riverfront for the final act. Transitioning onto the Peninsula Circuit, you will complete your final mileage on a fast, flat 1.1-mile loop that cuts directly through the park’s most vibrant bluebonnet fields. It is a stunning, high-speed finish where you can open up your stride and soak in the Colorado River views.

Marathon Course: The Turkey Bend Ultra-Double
Description: The Bluebonnet Marathon is the ultimate test of endurance and Hill Country grit. This "Double-Double" course features two massive laps of the 10.41-mile Big Loop, taking you deep into the technical backcountry of Turkey Bend. You’ll tackle the limestone climbs and rocky switchbacks twice, testing your legs on the park's most rugged terrain.
Once you’ve conquered the hills, the race shifts gears. You will finish with the 10K course (three laps of our 2.1-mile circuit). This final section transitions from the woods to the waterfront, giving you three scenic passes through the bluebonnet fields and along the Colorado River.
50K Course: The Turkey Bend Triple Threat
The 50K "Triple Threat" is the crown jewel of the Bluebonnet Trail Run. This is a true endurance test through the heart of Turkey Bend. You’ll tackle three full laps of the 10.41-mile Big Loop, meaning you’ll face the technical switchbacks and the steady "Big Loop" climbs three separate times.
Each lap offers a mix of rugged backcountry challenges and breathtaking views of the Colorado River. By the third lap, those blooming bluebonnets will be your best friends, guiding you home to the finish line. This is a course for those who want to earn every single mile!
50-Mile Course: The Turkey Bend Quad-Century
The 50-Miler is the ultimate endurance test at Turkey Bend. This course is a true grind through the best (and toughest) trails the park has to offer. You’ll start with four massive laps of the 10.41-mile Big Loop. This means four trips up the climbs and four technical descents through the rugged backcountry.
After completing your 41-mile mountain odyssey, you’ll transition to the riverfront for the final stretch. To bring it home, you'll complete four laps of the 2.1-mile circuit. These final miles take you through the bluebonnet meadows and along the Colorado River.
Athlete Guide: The "Transition Zone" Policy
When you finish your 4th and final Big Loop of the 10.4-mile course, you will enter the Peninsula Transition Zone.
Check-In: You must check in with the timer to confirm your 4th loop is complete.
The Final 8.4: You will then head out for 4 laps of the 2.1-mile Peninsula Circuit.
The Reward: These laps are flat, fast. Use this section to find your second wind and bring it home for your 50-mile finish!
We want to make sure you get your full 50-mile finish!
To hit the 9:00 PM cutoff for the whole event, we need you off the technical backcountry hills by 7:30 or 8:00 so you have time for those final loops by the river.
Race Safety & Cut-Off Policy
To ensure the safety of all athletes and to respect our park permits and teams, the following cut-offs will be strictly enforced. The course officially closes at 9:00 PM.
The "Hard" Cut-Off: 4:30 PM
Any 50-Mile or 50K runner who has not started their final 10.41-mile Big Loop by 4:30 PM will not be permitted to continue on that section of the course.
Note: Runners reaching this point after 4:30 PM may be offered the option to complete their remaining mileage on the 2.1-mile Peninsula Circuit to receive a "Finisher" medal (non-competitive).
Mandatory Headlamp Rule: 6:30 PM
The sun sets quickly over the Colorado River. Starting at 6:30 PM, all runners still on the course MUST have a functional headlamp or waist light. * Volunteers will be checking for lights at the main aid station. No light = No lap. Safety is our priority!
Course Closure: 9:00 PM
At 9:00 PM, the timing mat will be pulled, and the course will be officially closed. Any runners still on the 2.1-mile loop at this time will be swept into the finish area by our sweep team.
