Description
Usually held annually in Memorial Park in October, HSU's Brian Faglie Memorial Bark in the Park event is going virtual, given the current circumstances. The event may look a little different this year, but its spirit remains the same: To bring people together in a fun atmosphere to help HSU rescue, encourage adoption and educate the public on responsible pet ownership.
The Humane Society of Uvalde proudly brings you the Brian Faglie Memorial HYBRID 5K. Due to rising cases around the Uvalde area, HSU is offering people the option to either participate either physically or virtually. The best part about it? Anyone can join if they choose to do so virtually!
For those choosing to participate physically:
- You will be assigned a "starting wave" number based on your average time. This wave number will be assigned to you at the registration booth on registration day.
- This allows for a spaced-out type of race that follows social distancing guidelines and also logistically helps space out runners to avoid crowds along their race.
- Race bags with a shirt, bib, and other goodies will be available for pickup on race day.
For those choosing to participate virtually:
- You'll receive a via delivery or by mail - depending on where you live - the week of the race. If you sign up during the week of the race, your race bag will be received after the race.
- On race day, you'll run a 5k wherever you wish, using your preferred run app to record your run.
- You'll send your results from that app via screen shot or directly to HSUVirtual5k@gmail.com.
For runners who place in the top three, you'll get a special gift card from one of our sponsors. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize for both physical AND virtual runners. First 25 people to sign up for the race get a customized drawstring backpack!
Not a runner? You can use this very site to donate to HSU! (Donate button at the top of this page)
