Headed to APTA Mobility Week? Lace up and represent transit!
Join us for the LIT 5K Run, Walk, or Roll, a fun, high-energy event celebrating workforce development in transit and inspiring the next generation of transit and STEM careers.
Whether you're running the full 5K or participating in the 1-mile option, this professionally chip-timed event welcomes participants of all fitness levels. Walk, roll, jog, or run while connecting with colleagues and champions of workforce development across the transit industry.
This isn’t just a race — it’s a movement.
Participants will run or walk along the beautiful paths of Memory Grove Park, one of the most scenic parks in the United States, featuring peaceful trails and stunning mountain views. It’s the perfect way to kick off Mobility Week with energy, community, and purpose.
Represent Transit
Show your transit pride by wearing your favorite transit swag or a transit-inspired outfit!

Timing & Results
- The 5K race will be professionally chip-timed, with timing chips attached to your race bib. Official race results will be posted online following the event.
- The 1-mile option is untimed and designed for participants who want to enjoy a casual walk, roll, or jog while supporting the mission.
Commemorative Medal
The first 100 participants to cross the finish line in the 5K will receive a limited-edition commemorative medal celebrating the inaugural LIT 5K at APTA Mobility Week.
Good Morning Participants,
We are excited to welcome everyone to the Memory Grove & Lower City Creek 5K and 1 Mile Race today! Please review the important race morning updates and changes below carefully.
Race Location
All participants must meet at the entrance gate of Memory Grove Park:
288 N Canyon Road
Salt Lake City, Utah
Please note that both the 5K and 1 Mile participants will now start at the same location, directly ahead of the Memory Grove Park entrance.
Updated Start & Finish Information
Due to course adjustments, the previous 5K starting point has been changed. Both races will now:
Start at the lower canyon by the Memory Grove Park entrance
Finish at the exact same location where the race begins
Race Course Details
Both races will travel down the trail:
1 Mile participants will turn around at the first turnaround point and return to the finish line.
5K participants will continue to the second turnaround point before returning to the finish line.
Course Difficulty Notice
The Memory Grove and Lower City Creek 5K is generally considered a moderate difficulty course. While the terrain is mostly paved and the first half features a gentle, shaded downhill, runners will face a continuous steady incline on the return trip that may test endurance.
At any time, if you feel you cannot complete the race, you may simply turn around and head back the way you came. If you do so, please notify the race timekeepers upon return so they can properly adjust your finish time.
Packet Pickup Update
Packet Pickup: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Both races will now begin at 7:15 AM
All bib pickups will also take place at the Memory Grove Park entrance location.
Awards
Awards will be presented to the Top Overall Male and Female finishers in the 5K. Additional recognition may be given for Best Transit-Inspired Outfit.
