Due to the uncertainty of what the COVID restrictions will be in May, we will hold the 5K from Holy Spirit School. Instead of everyone starting at 8:00 a.m. we will have staggered start times from 8:00 am. - 2:00 p.m. with a festive start and finish line. There will be a 5K course marked. We will provide more updated information as the event gets closer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is the race?
A: The 2021 5K Spirit Run in-person race will be held at Holy Spirit School, 8800 Braddock Road, Annandale. The start will be at the back of the school near the field and will end in the upper parking lot.
Q: What time does the race start and what time should I arrive?
A: Please check your registration online at https://runsignup.com/Race/VA/Annandale/flamesspiritrun to see what time you are scheduled to start. Please try to arrive 30 minutes early to pick up your bib and t-shirt.
Q: What COVID precautions will be followed?
A: We will have socially distanced wave starts and we ask that everyone wear masks and respect social distancing when not running. We will have hand sanitizer available for participants.
Q: Is the race timed?
A: We will be manually timing the 5K using an app called Webscorer. Please be patient with our timers as this our first time scoring our own race. Please note that this is not a certified 5K racecourse.
Q: Where can I pick up my t-shirt and race bib?
A: We will have t-shirt and bib pick up Friday, May 14 from 2:00-5:30 at the front of the school and Saturday, May 15 beginning at 7:15 at the start of the racecourse. Please arrive 30 minutes before your start time.
Q: If I registered after April 25, will receive a race T-Shirt?
A: We ordered extra t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis. We will have them available Friday at pickup and on Saturday. We cannot guarantee sizes or availability. We will also have t-shirts from previous years available for purchase for $5 by the registration table.
Q: What if I volunteered to help? Can I still volunteer to help?
A: We still need volunteers as Course Marshalls throughout the day. Please check the 5K Spirit Run Volunteer Sign-Up Genius if you would like to volunteer. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0f4aafac2caaf49-5kspirit

Due to the uncertainty of what the COVID restrictions will be in May, we are not going to have a timing company again this year. We will be manually timing the 5K using an app called Webscorer. Please be patient with our timers as this our first time scoring our own race. Please note that this is not a certified 5K racecourse.
What if I am running the 5K Virtual Spirit Run? You can run your 5K anywhere, any time until Sunday, May 16. Send photos of your family or of your time! Send to email@example.com. Final results will be posted by Monday, May 17th.
Sorry, no medals this year, but you can see if you beat Father O'Donohue's time!
Due to COVID restrictions and to avoid large groups in the Holy Spirit School neighborhood, we set up start times for the in-person 5K throughout the day beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until 2:00 pm. Hopefully, this will also provide the flexibility to participate at the best time for your family. The start times are for groups of 30 runners/walkers each hour. Once that cap is reached you will need to sign up for another start time. The start times are on a first-come, first-served basis. You are able to change your start time, space available, until 2:00 on May 15th.
Here is how to sign up for a start time (Corral). Each registrant must sign up for a start time. https://help.runsignup.com/support/solutions/articles/17000079342-update-corral-selection.
Please check your registration to be sure that you are designated a start time. We are only able to view the number of participants per start time, not any specific names.
If you are planning on running virtually, you do not need to sign up for a start time/corral. Remember to send a picture of your participation!
