Description
Show your support for our Armed Forces and the National D-Day Memorial by participating in a patriotic themed Virtual 5K Run/Walk. Our annual event is typically held Armed Forces Day weekend on the campus of the National D-Day Memorial. Due to continued COVID restrictions and concern for the health of our staff, volunteers, and visitors this year's event will be virtual. By participating virtually, you can choose your own 5K course and complete the distance when it is convenient for you. We anticipate participation from across the country.
Our virtual event will be enhanced by the RaceJoy App. Participants will be able to track their speed, distance, and hear inspirational / educational cheers while using the app race weekend! Use of the app is not required. But, we highly recommend it!
So, What Is A Virtual Race?
For years, many races have offered a virtual runner option that allowed runners to participate no matter where they lived and to still support the race. Runners can signup for the race, post their times online after running a 5K, and receive a 2020 Armed Forces Day 5K race shirt.
How Do I Participate in the Virtual Armed Forces Day 5K?
Step 1: Register to run or walk the virtual Armed Forces Day 5K at www.dday.org/armed-forces-day-5k. The registration fee will remain at $25 through race day.
Step 2: Tell your friends, family, and co-workers about the race and explain why it is important to you. Invite them to sign up and run with you. (in groups of 10 or less).
Step 3: Join your fellow runners and walkers May 14th - May 16th. Lace up your running shoes, head outside, and walk or run to support our nation’s heroes past and present who defend our freedom!
You can report your results to RunSignUp, too. Information on How to Post Your Virtual Result can be found HERE.
Most Importantly: Share with us on social media about why you signed up, pictures of training and your 5K, and more by using the hashtag #DDAYAFD5K.
PACKET PICKUP OPTIONS
We are happy to mail your packet to you for an additional fee of $10.00. Please select this option during registration. The registration deadline to guarantee delivery by race weekend is May 1st.
