Final Instructions
Welcome to the Bruce Barnes Mile!
On behalf of the Charlottesville Track Club we’re delighted to have you joining us this Sunday for this popular community fundraiser run.
A few things of note…
-Race Day is this Sunday June 7th at 8:45am at the Greenwood Community Center.
-The event parking and packet pickup is at the Greenwood Community Center on Greenwood Road. There are also restrooms in the basement of the center.
-You may pickup your race number anytime from 7:45-8:30. There is no pre race day pickup. There is race day entry, so if you have any family of friends that would like to run the event, please let them know.
-Please be careful warming up on the roads around Greenwood prior to the start of the race, as traffic will be flowing in. Try to run single file when cars are approaching.
-The actual race start is over by the post office, which is about a quarter mile from the community center.
-The results will be chip timed so please wear your number visibly on the front of your shirt.
-The race starts at 8:45
-We will have splits at the 1/4, the 1/2 and the 3/4 mile locations, with a click at the finish.
-We will have water at the finish line and we will have awards back at the community center at around 9:15 (after everyone makes it back). Please keep in mind that with the race being all downhill, that the walk back to the community center is an all uphill climb. Sorry about that…
-As always, the race, which is run in memory of longtime CTC member Bruce Barnes, like all CTC events, is not for profit all volunteer driven. All proceeds will go towards the CTC’s annual High School Scholarship.
We are grateful for your ongoing support and look forward to seeing all of you on Sunday morning for this very fun event!
Cheers,
Lindy Bain and Mark Lorenzoni
