Description
Walk 9 laps and check out some vendors/musicians around James Madison University's Festival Lawn; around the sidewalks, in cowgirl/cowboy boots (or other shoes of your choice if needed). Walk these laps in the "boots/shoes" of those who have fought or are still fighting cancer.
About 1 in 260 children in the United States will develop cancer before the age of 20. In 2024, it is estimated that 14,910 children in the US will be diagnosed with cancer. That breaks down to over 40 children per day who are devastated by the news that they have been diagnosed with cancer. These are staggering statistics and ones that we are committed to changing. We are Dukes Against Childhood Cancer, a student-run organization (not a non-profit) at James Madison University, whose mission is to advocate for, bring awareness of, and contribute to the fight against, pediatric cancer.
