Reservoir Run!

This year the Great Gator 5k is combining efforts with Clover Hill Elementary and Woolridge Elementary for the Reservoir Run.  This message will update when registration is open.

Description

Swift Creek Elementary will host the tenth annual Great Gator 5k and Kid's Fun Run on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The course will traverse the roads and pathways of Brandermill, beginning and ending at the Swift Creek Elementary School campus. This event will focus on celebrating healthy living as a community while benefiting SCES’ students.

The Great Gator 5K is funded by sponsor donations and runner entry fees. All profits will fund PTA STEAM initiatives that will be used directly in classroom learning.

5k Race Course

Turn-by-turn directions: 

  • Participants will turn right (westbound) on Genito Road
  • Participants will turn left onto the path that runs adjacent to Brandermill Parkway
  • Beyond North Beach Road, participants will follow the path to the right, crossing over Brandermill Parkway
  • Participants will go through a tunnel underneath North Beach Road
  • At the fork in the path, participants will turn left
  • Participants will go along Shallowford Landing Terrace
  • Participants will get on the path at the end of Shallowford Landing Terrace
  • Participants will turn right onto Walkers Ferry Road
  • Participants will get on the path at the end of Walkers Ferry Road
  • Participants will turn left onto Riverbirch Trace Road
  • Participants will turn left just prior to Brandermill Parkway onto the path that runs adjacent to it
  • Participants will follow the path across Brandermill Parkway
  • Participants will turn left to continue on the path along Brandermill Parkway
  • Beyond Sterlings Bridge Road, participants will follow the path to the right
  • Participants will make a sharp left turn to stay on the path
  • Participants will turn left onto Sagebrook Road
  • Participants will get onto the path at the end of Sagebrook Road
  • Participants will go through a tunnel underneath Genito Road
  • Participants will follow the path to the right, returning to the parking lot of Swift Creek Elementary School

Fun Run Race Course

This year, the kids fun run will be a 0.5 or one mile course. Kids will start in the bus loop, run on the pathways around the school toward St. Ledger's Pool and return to the parking lot. One loop of this course is 0.5 miles. Older kids can follow the sidewalk around the school (indicated with yellow dots on the map) and do a second loop to complete a one mile run.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up will be at Lucky Road Run Shop (13265 Rittenhouse Dr, Midlothian, VA 23112) on Friday, April 22 from 4 pm - 7 pm. You will receive your race bib, t-shirt, and offers from our sponsors. It is highly recommended to retrieve your packet Friday.

Packets can also be picked up on race day in the cafeteria of Swift Creek Elementary from 7 am - 8 am.
