Earth Day 5k

This is a Road/Trail 5K  & “Run with the Minions” Kids FUN RUN

5K COURSE: The double loop 5K flat course begins at the pavilion at Willcox Lake Park on the paved straightway toward the trail that winds through the woods with scenic views of the lake before looping through the field at the baseball field.

“Run with the Minions” KIDS' FUN RUN COURSE: Children 10 & under may join the four Minions in a half mile Kids' Fun Run which loops around the open field at the baseball field at 8:00 am (registration required). Kids will run with our four crazy minions on a ½ mile race in the grass field. Every participant earns a medal and a picture with a minion after the race!

PRE-RACE PACKAGE PICK UP: Pre-registered runners may pick up race packets at Bank of Southside Virginia (2703 S Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805) on Friday, April 22, from 9 am to 4 pm. (Includes bib and timing chip)

DAY-OF REGISTRATION & CHECK-IN: Runners should check in at the LNN USA tent in the parking lot beside the baseball field between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.

DIRECTIONS to FREE PARKING: Take I-95 South to Exit 51 toward I-85 South / US 460 West Toward Durham, at Exit 65, head right on the ramp for Squirrel Level Rd toward Richard Bland College, turn left onto Squirrel Level Rd, then immediately turn left onto Defense Road. 

FEES: (non-refundable): 5K: $20 per runner through March 31; $25 for registrations received after March 31st, through Race Day. Kids Fun Run: $5 per child (10 & under).

FREE t-shirts and swag bag guaranteed to runners registered by March 31st which will be available at pre-race packet pick up or on race day. Swag bag includes post-race nutritional items and additional sponsor gifts. A limited number of additional shirts and swag bags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis during pick-up hours. Sizes not guaranteed.

AWARDS for the 5K Race Competitive Divisions(Ceremony will begin approximately a half hour after the end of the race. Only one award per person.)

1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place medal will be awarded by age groups:
Male and Female 11-14
Male and Female 15-17
Male and Female 18-34
Male and Female 35-49
Male and Female 50-64
Male and Female 65+
