The 11th annual Boxer Brief 5K Run/Walk raises the level of awareness to colorectal cancer while offering education in an effort to prevent and defeat our country's second cancer killer in men and women.
Join us at City Stadium, Home of the Richmond Kickers, or in your own neighborhood! There is a virtual challenge option for those living outside of Richmond, Virginia or for those interested in an entire weekend challenge. The goal of the virtual option is to collectively accumulate 3,100 miles as participants across the country participate. Join the cross country "movement" to prevent colorectal cancer! The miles accumulated can be achieved through the following activities: Walk, Run, Ride, Swim or Paddle! Yep! Collect those miles as you participate in multiple activities throughout the weekend of June 10th - June 11th! Perfect for the triathlete, the runner who also likes to hike, our swimmer friends, and for those rowing and paddling on the water. No need to record a time, we just need your miles.
Returning in 2023 is the High School Challenge! High School students can win money for their schools and designate the department to receive those funds. The top two finishers in the High School Challenge can win $250 and $150 respectively for their school. An extra $100 is awarded to the school with the largest school participation. The student rate to participate is just $28 through January 31st and then remains at a reduced rate of $30.
New in 2023 - a no swag option. HCB2 offers race swag options for those who may want something different than a race t-shirt. Choose a 2023 race T-shirt, a HCB2 signature Hat, a high quality Gym Towel, or select the "no swag" option. Many of the walkers/runners are return participants so we want to make sure there are giveaway options that meet the desire of each Boxer Briefer.
The popular Caped Colon Crusader kid's sprint begins the fun! At the live event on June 10th, all the 5K participants at City Stadium will go off at 8:00am and chip timing will be offered. Prior to the 5K our smaller participants have the opportunity to participate in the Caped Colon Crusader sprint. Children under the age of eight are encouraged to wear their favorite cape and show how fierce and fast they are as they sprint towards the finish line. Registration for the Caped Colon Crusader sprint can be found on site on race day. There is NO charge for the sprint.
Music, costumes, games, and prizes creates a high energy morning! Awards will be given to the overall fastest man and woman along with the top age group males and females. Team Awards are offered for Best Team Costume and Largest Team which highlights the tremendous team passion along the course. We are rewarding participants who share their special URL code and bring 10 additional participants to the event with a $10 refund. We appreciate the referrals which we know saves lives! Just ask a member on Team Kirby!
We hope you join us at City Stadium, Home to the Richmond Kickers for the 11th annual Boxer Brief 5K which offers lots of entertainment and education while paying tribute to the warriors challenged with this disease. The Run to Save Buns has something for everyone!
