5 Hours of Verdun: Cross Country Relay Race

4 Person Team 5 Hour Relay:
Verdun invites runners to form 4 person teams for a 5 hour relay on a 3.4K (about 2 mile) course.  
How it Works: The relay will start at 10:00 AM and finishes at 3:00PM.  Your team of 4 runners will trade laps, in regular succession, for the duration of the race. The team completing the most laps, or the same number of laps in the shortest time, will be the winner in their category.  No runners will be allowed start a lap after 2:50PM, and laps completed after 3:00PM will not count.  Teams will likely complete 3 to 4 laps per hour, with each runner covering approximately 8 to 10 miles in total.

This race is a fundraiser with all proceeds going to support Verdun Adventure Bound.  Verdun is a educational 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to support youth and adult personal growth incorporating experiential learning and stewardship of the land on its 66 acre retreat facility. 3 Team Categories:
1. All Male
2. All Female
3. Coed (any combination of males and females).

Registration:
Registration is initiated by the Team Captain, who will pay a setup fee plus a registration fee.  The captain will specify the team category, team name, and supply his team members with a password to allow them to register while joining the team.  Once 4 team members have registered, the team registration is complete.  Changes can be made, later on, if a team member is no longer available to race.

Team Names:
Feel free to identify your team with a fun team name.  Teams will be identified by a Team Name Abbreviation of no more than 5 characters.  If duplicate abbreviations are submitted, they will be granted on a first come basis, and the later submitting teams will be notified of the duplication and asked to choose another abbreviation.

Prices
$100 Per Team: Pre-registration through noon April 16, 2021.  Team captain pays $40 ($20 reg fee + $20 setup fee), and additional team members pay $20.
$120 Per Team: Pre-reg April 17 through May 7.  Team captain pays $50 ($25 reg fee + $25 setup fee), and additional team members pay $25.
$130 Per Team: On race day.  Captain must pay the full fee at registration.

Short Sleeve Race T-Shirts included and guaranteed for all members of teams who pre-reg by April 16.  Teams registering later may get T-Shirts, but we can't guarantee that due to supplier deadlines.

Race Course
Verdun has a beautiful cross country course with just enough hills to make it interesting.  We will run on a 3.5K subsection of the usual 5K course, because the 5K course includes repeated sections that would cause confusion in a relay.  In early May, temperatures should be in the low 70s: warm enough to stay loose while waiting, but not too hot for competitive running.  If it is raining, waiting runners can hang out under the pavilion at the start/finish area.

Incomplete Teams:
If any members of your team fail to show, you will be allowed to race with fewer than 4 runners or to recombine with other incomplete teams.  Let us know at registration or by email if your team will be incomplete and we will do what we can.
