Let's outpace COVID-19 while staying active and healthy! Register for the Friendship Outpace COVID-19 Virtual Run/Walk to help as Friendship ensures the health, safety, and well-being of everyone at our campuses during this challenging time. This week-long virtual event will begin on Wednesday, May 27 in honor of National Senior Health & Fitness Day!

There are 3 ways to participate in Outpace COVID-19:

  1. Run or walk 19 miles in the week of May 27-June 2. You can run/walk these miles every day (2.7 miles a day), take a few days to do it, OR if you are really crazy, do it all on one day!
  2. Run or walk 1.9 miles in the week of May 27-June 2. If you live or work at Friendship, we've created some maps you can use to make sure you're reaching 1.9 miles!
  3. Take 19 "steps" to help overcome the challenges of COVID-19. This could be making 19 calls to check on family and friends, sewing 19 face masks for essential workers and residents, writing 19 notes to those you love, etc.

We've created a Facebook event for you to post your run/walk or photo of your accomplishments as proof. This will be a great place to get creative using the number 19 or sending words of encouragement to others in the group. Show us your 19 by using the hashtag #outpacecovid19 when you post on social media!

In addition to a t-shirt for each participant, we'll be giving away random prizes to registrants and an award for the best photo on our Facebook Group page.

Proceeds will go to offsetting the costs of Friendship’s efforts to support residents and staff during COVID-19, such as medical supplies, meals, training, etc. (see Friendship's Coronavirus updates here).

How do I show evidence of my 19 miles?

We're relying on the honor system for completion, but we encourage you to show your evidence (photo of your distance on your watch, treadmill, or fitness app; photo of the masks you've made; photo of you running/walking, etc.). Here are a few ways you can track and prove your accomplishment:

  1. Visit Friendship's Outpace COVID-19 Facebook event: Here you can upload photos of your activity and also interact with others who are doing the same event.
  2. Take a picture of your Garmin/Strava/Fitbit/MapMyRun finishing time, and share on social media.
  3. RunSignup: Submit your results straight through RunSignup. On the Friendship Outpace COVID-19 RunSignup event page, select the Results tab > then select Submit Virtual Results.

When will my shirt and any other swag be mailed to me?

We will start mailing out your swag the week after the event concludes. Please allow a couple of weeks for us to get everything shipped.
