The Orange County Child Advocacy Center provides services to children and youth who experience physical or sexual violence. Our center is a child friendly space where youth can talk about their experiences of abuse. The CAC works under a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) model, which includes investigative partners, Department for Children and Families, Safeline (victim advocacy), Clara Martin (mental health), and more. The purpose of the MDT is to comprehensively address child abuse in order to minimize further trauma to victims. The children and families we serve are connected with onsite services and referred to community partners for additional resources.
By participating in this race, you are helping ensure that the CAC is able to continue providing services for families experiencing abuse. While it is challenging to think about child abuse happening in our communities, it is a sad reality. For some children abuse happens just once, for others it is a near daily occurrence. At the CAC we provide the opportunity for youth to share their experiences - if they wish - and we strive to help victims heal and to become the survivors we know they are.
In addition to helping these children and families, staff at the CAC work hard to provide outreach through education and workshops. CAC staff can also be found on our Facebook page, where we talk about important questions we’ve received and topics such as Sexting, Bullying, Healthy Relationships, and more!
Race packets will be sent out after the shutdown ends!!!!!
